I wanted to find another such character for Memorial Day...but there aren't that many military female characters that fell in the line of duty in comics. Until I remembered a series that would be the BLACK SHEEP of the Joe Franchise---G.I. JOE EXTREME.

G.I. Joe Extreme was doomed to fail from the start. As if the very name wasn't enough for a laugh, its characters had cartoonish proportions and its figures had VERY LIMITED ARTICULATION...a far cry from the multiposable figures of the 60's, 70's and 80's. However, among all the foolishness, one character stood out...

Salindra Kennedy, aka Tall Sally of G.I. Joe Extreme

There's a scene where she's writing a letter to her parents (and looking SO ADORABLE) and Scarle...sorry...Mayday walks in wondering why she even bothers with SNAIL MAIL. She tells NotScarlet that letters are far more personal. Sally strikes me as the kind of character who wasn't 100% business. Yeah, she's strictly business when times call for it, but when it's down-time, she wants to let loose. There's another scene where the team is at a formal party, Sally is wearing a nice dress and looks like she wants to have FUN (while NotScarlet is like, "I'd rather beat up Cobr...uh...Iron Klaw!") Plus, Sally often flirts around with the Joe-X's resident beach bum Metalhead (yeah...they reuse a lot of names). She wasn't all about KICKING BUTT all day everyday and just wanted to live life...

...so OF COURSE she had to die, as she and another Joe Shortfuse find a bomb that Cobr...uh...THE FORCES OF SKAR had planted...with only a few seconds left on the ticker.

I wanted to show off her upbeat personality in these pics. I just find her so CUTE, especially when things are less hectic and she just wants to have fun and make out with Metalhead.
