Iris was introduced as a supporting cast member of Karate Kid's 1976 solo series, where KK would wind up on the 20th Century. She would get involved in adventures with him, get herself in trouble on occasion, and eventually she would fall in love with him...until KK's 31st Century girlfriend, Princess Projecta of the Legion Of Superheroes, shows up. KK would put Iris in the Friend-zone and eventually go back to the 31st Century with Projecta. Apparently, Iris didn't take it very well, as she would then quit her job as a teacher and take part in an experiment to be given powers and prove to KK that she's as strong-willed as Projecta or any other girl he's allied with. As you'd expect, shit would go awry, as she would turn into the villainess Diamondeth and go on a rampage. She would then get stopped, turned back to normal, and sent back to where she came from, never to be heard from again.
