Wanda Kay Breckenridge (Filmation's Hardy Boys)
Years ago, I was first exposed to the Hardy Boys in school. It was all about reading comprehension, and those were one of the things they had us reading to see if we could follow the mystery unfolding before us. I often wonder if there was ever a cartoon of these characters...only to find out a WHOPPING 30 YEARS LATER that, YES, they did have a cartoon.
In my hint, I called them the ORIGINAL Mystery-solving Teens, as they've been around since 1927. In the late 60's, the wonderful people at Filmation had the bright idea of making them into a cartoon...and an actual band with their own album (with songs featured during each episode.) The show ran right at the same time as the OTHER mystery show that most of YOU thought it was (I couldn't believe the number of people who though it was Velma or Daphne, both of whom I drew MANY TIMES! Sorry, I couldn't help but to laugh at your expense!) Apart from the Hardy's Joe & Frank, they tacked on a few other characters to accompany them: Chubby Morton (the "Comic Relief" whose voice will make your ears BLEED), Pete Jones (one of the first Black characters to be a regular on a US cartoon show), and the subject of my next set of pics...Wanda Kay Breckenridge of the Hardy Boys
