Here is page 1 of the Steamy Afterparty comic. This is the style I am going with to make things quicker. No background details to worry about, less time spent adding volume due to no colors and no paneling necessary. Dialogue bubbles and such are all done in Clip Studio Paint so there is no exporting/importing to/from Photoshop. Less type options available that way but saves me a little time. Using this method I can pop out about 1-2 pages a day so it's definitely faster and serves as a good temporary alternative while I get things sorted out.
Also, got an official response from Patreon regarding their change in policy albeit 2 days late. The question asked directly about creating rewards with popular characters and in the question was a creator that posted SFW pinups of characters they did not own as well as one that posted streams while playing games they did not own. Here was the response:
"Hey there,
Thanks so much for writing in and great question!
What this means is that we do not allow a creator to take something that they did not create and play it off as their own.
Both of the creators you have mentioned aren't taking the game or characters and saying that they invented them and that they are theirs. They are adding their own touch to it and providing a very different experience.
Even though both of these cases use things that are already in existence, they aren't claiming those ideas or things to be their own.
An example would be if I were to take a comic, photo, painting, or show and offer it as a reward while claiming it was my original artwork.
Hope this helps and if you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to let me know!"
This means they still apply free use to the rewards. Why they felt like making the change in their terms at all is now beyond me as that was already stated in their DMCA procedures as well as their terms of use regarding intellectual properties/copyright. Luckily in the end this means no worries about future 34 comics on Patreon as long as they are 18+ characters, although I may dip into an OC comic or two just to try out the waters. There's not many canon 18+ animated characters that are actually interesting beyond their physical appearance so that would be an issue down the road for me anyway. At least making characters I can attempt to alleviate that.
