* Chapter 6: Lemonade *
Week Three (continued)
Monday
School was different after that.
Not obviously different. Mira still sat in the same seat, still took the same notes, still ate lunch with her friends. But there was a new current running beneath the surface. *
Juni.* She sat next to her in homeroom, one desk over, close enough that their elbows could brush if either of them leaned. Something live and electric hummed between them whenever their eyes met.
*
Electricity, beautiful blue eyes, sacred pact.*
First period, Juniper's foot found hers under the desk. Not the usual press. A slow drag, the pad of her rabbit paw tracing up Mira's ankle, deliberate and unhurried. Mira's pen skipped across her notes. She didn't look over. Didn't need to. She could feel Juniper's grin from here.
A different hum found her during second period. One short pulse, low enough to be silent, strong enough to make her grip her desk. The keeper's stem ground against the vibrator's bulb, and the pressure reached places neither device hit alone. She exhaled through her nose and stared at her textbook until the letters stopped swimming.
Ten seconds. Then it stopped. No text followed. Just Dad, at his desk with his coffee, checking in.
By lunch, Mira's whole body was vibrating even without being buzzed by Dad. Every incidental touch in the hallway landed like a brand. Juniper brushing past her at the lockers, fingers trailing across her hip. Juniper's shoulder against hers in the cafeteria line, warm through two layers of fabric. Juniper's paw finding hers under the table and squeezing, quick, gone before anyone noticed.
Except Sage noticed.
"You two have been weird lately." The coyote's ears twitched, her grey eyes flicking between them. "Like, *
giggly* weird. What's going on?"
"Nothing," they said in unison, then looked at each other and burst out laughing.
Sage rolled her eyes. "See? Weird."
But she let it drop, distracted by Theo's latest book recommendation and her ongoing campaign to steal his new holographic bookmark, and the moment passed.
After school, Mira walked to the bus with Juniper's scent still on her paw from the squeeze under the table. She held it to her snout and breathed in. Fox nose holding rabbit warmth all the way home, where Bear met her at the door and pressed close and she sat on the hallway floor holding him, smelling both of them on her fur and wanting everything.
———————
Thursday
They found the bench behind the gym.
Nobody used it. The concrete was cracked, the backrest tagged with someone's initials from years ago, weeds growing through the seams. It faced the equipment shed and a stretch of chain-link fence, the kind of view that discouraged lingering. Perfect for them.
Juniper sat with her back against the brick wall, long ears angled to track the corridor. Mira beside her, close enough that their thighs touched.
"I've been practicing," Juniper whispered. Cheeks flushed, ears bright pink. "At home. With my fingers. Like you showed me."
Mira's breath caught. "Yeah?"
"It's getting easier. I can do two now." Juniper's paws were in her lap, twisting the hem of her shirt. "I think about you when I do it. About Bear. About... next time."
The words sent heat straight through Mira's core. She pressed her thighs together. She was already wet. She was *
always* wet lately, the heat making everything more intense, but this was different. This was want mixed with anticipation mixed with pride. Juniper, alone in her room at night, fingers inside herself, thinking of what they'd shared.
"You're doing good," she managed. "That's... that's exactly what you should be doing."
Juniper looked at her sideways. "Is it weird that I think about Bear? Like, specifically?"
"No." Mira's voice dropped. "I think about him too. When I'm at school. When I can't have him."
Something passed between them. The shared hunger of two girls carrying the same secret, the same want.
Mira pivoted. "We should plan something for the weekend. Want me to ask Dad if you can come over?"
"Actually, why not come to mine this Saturday." Juniper twisted a long ear between her fingers. "You keep saying you will. Mom's working until five. We'd have the house to ourselves."
Dad had said the same thing: that it looked more normal if Mira went to Juniper's sometimes. *
The way friendships are supposed to look.*
"Yeah," Mira said. "Saturday. I'll be there. I'm excited to see your place."
They sat there a moment longer. Close enough to touch. Close enough to kiss if they dared. The equipment shed hummed with something mechanical. A bird called from the chain-link.
The bell rang. The moment shattered. They separated, back to being normal kids, normal friends, hiding everything that mattered beneath the surface.
But Mira carried the conversation with her for the rest of the day. Juniper, practicing. Juniper, thinking about her. Juniper, getting ready.
*
Going to see her home.*
The heat pulsed through her veins, hungrier than ever.
———————
Week Four: Tender Hours
Saturday afternoon, Mira went to Juniper's. She gave her Dad a quick kiss. He smiled and waved as she hopped out of his truck and rang the doorbell.
Juniper opened the door and gave her a big hug, pulling her into the home.
The Ashford house sat at the end of a cul-de-sac, smaller than Mira's, with herb boxes on the porch and wind chimes that clinked in the breeze. Inside smelled like dried rosemary and old library books, every surface covered in half-finished projects: puzzles, stacked paperbacks, Juniper's paint supplies colonizing the kitchen table.
Juniper gave her the tour in her own bunny way. She was fast, bouncing between rooms, narrating everything. "Kitchen, obviously. Mom's tea collection is insane, she has like forty kinds. Don't touch the blue tin, it's her fancy one." Through the living room: "That's Dad's chair, he's never here but nobody sits in it." Up the stairs, Juniper's hand in hers, pulling. "Bathroom, Lily's room, she'll kill you if you go in, Rose's room, she won't care, and—"
She pushed open the last door. "Mine." Juniper's paw on hers, fox chasing bunny, Mira couldn't help but grin with her tail flowing behind her.
Juniper's room was lavender walls and organized chaos. Drawings pinned everywhere, some finished, most not, the progression of skill visible if you traced them from door to window. A bookshelf stuffed past capacity, paperbacks wedged sideways on top of upright ones. Paint supplies in mason jars on the desk, brushes sorted by size, the one orderly system in the room. The bed was small, covered in stuffed animals, and the window looked out on the backyard where Mira could see the maple tree Juni had drawn.
It felt strange being here. Away from home, away from Dad, away from Bear, away from the relief her body had grown dependent on. Juniper's house was quieter than the Blackthorn house, emptier, the particular hush of a home where people came and went without overlapping much. But Dad had encouraged it. "You need normal things too, cub. Go be a kid for an afternoon."
Juniper was already pulling controllers out of a drawer. "You play?"
"A little."
"Liar. Mira, you have a whole game room."
"Okay, a lot."
They settled on the floor with their backs against the bed, shoulders touching. Some racing game Juniper was terrible at; she kept driving off cliffs, laughing every time, and Mira found herself laughing too despite the heat simmering under her skin. The ache between her legs was persistent, constant, the heat's background hum, but with a controller in her hands and Juniper's elbow bumping hers on every sharp turn, it was manageable. Almost quiet.
"Your claws are getting long," Juniper observed during a loading screen, taking Mira's paw in hers. "Don't you file them?"
"Dad usually does it." Mira wiggled her fingers, trying not to think about how Dad's touch usually led to other things. Pulsing heat hit her anyway. "I always forget."
"I can do it." Juniper was already digging through her desk, producing a small nail file with cartoon bunnies on the handle. "Hold still."
She watched Juniper's careful attention, the gentle rasp of the file against each claw, the way she held Mira's paw like it was precious. They'd done far more explicit things together, but this was something else. Domestic. *
Girlfriend* things, Mira thought, and the word made her ears flush and her tail curl.
"There." Juniper inspected her work. "Now you do mine."
They traded places. Rabbit claws were different, blunter and faster-growing, but Mira figured it out, matching Juniper's careful patience. When she finished, Juniper flexed her paws and grinned.
"We should do this every time."
"Deal."
The video game was forgotten. They migrated to Juniper's bed, smaller than Mira's, covered in stuffed animals that got pushed aside, sitting cross-legged facing each other.
Mira saw a brush on the nightstand and picked it up. "What's this?" She tossed it by the handle so it spun in the air and she caught it with a flourish. She gave a foxy smile and looked at Juniper sitting across from her. "Want me to?"
Juniper shuffled out of her shirt and lay on the bed face down. Mira started by working through Juniper's grey fur in long, slow strokes.
"That feels really nice," Juniper murmured, eyes half-closed, long ears drooping with contentment.
"You've got a tangle back here." Mira worked at it gently. "Don't you ever brush?"
"Not like this." Juniper's voice was soft. "Nobody brushes me like this. My mom just does it fast, to get it done."
Mira took her time. Found every small knot, every patch where the fur had gotten ruffled the wrong way. Juniper's ears melted into the sheets and her body went boneless under her attention, leaning into the strokes, making small happy sounds that weren't quite words.
When she finished, Juniper turned to face her, eyes bright.
"My turn."
Mira's tail swished as Juniper worked the brush through her thicker fox fur. It took longer, more to work through, more tangles from her restless heat-sleep, but Juniper was patient. Thorough. Her small paws found the spots behind Mira's ears, along her spine, at the base of her tail where the fur was densest.
"You're so soft," Juniper said. "Like, way softer than me."
"Fox thing." Mira's eyes drifted closed, the gentle touch almost enough to soothe the constant wanting. Almost. "Yours is sleeker though. Prettier."
"You think I'm pretty?"
The question hung in the air. Mira opened her eyes. Juniper was watching her, ears angled forward, lower lip caught between her front teeth.
"Yeah," she whispered. "*
Really pretty.*"
Juniper held her gaze. The pink in her ears deepened, but she didn't look away. She set the brush down.
A car pulled into the driveway. Tires on gravel, the engine cutting. Juniper's ears swiveled toward the window.
"Mom's home." She checked the clock. Just after five. "She'll be in the kitchen for an hour making tea and complaining about her shift. We're invisible."
She grabbed Mira's paw and pulled her off the bed. "I want to show you something."
She led Mira downstairs, past the kitchen where Mrs. Ashford was already filling the kettle, still in her scrubs. "Going outside, Mom!" "Stay close, be safe!" "Okay!" Juniper ducked into the kitchen while Mira waited in the hall. The suctioning sound of the fridge door opening, the soft clink of a bottle, a pause, another pause. The door closed. Juniper came back, wiping her lips with the back of her paw, cheeks slightly pink, and she grabbed Mira's hand again without explanation.
Through the back door and across the yard. Past the herb garden where the first shoots were pushing through, past the back fence gate, to where the mowed grass gave up and the woods started. An old maple stood at the tree line, its canopy bright with new leaves, that particular spring green that hadn't darkened into summer yet.
"The tree you drew," Mira said. She'd gotten the fork right, the way the trunk split wide enough to sit in. But the drawing was small and the tree was not. It towered at the tree line, lower branches polished from use and careful climbing.
"*
My* tree." Juniper was already pulling herself up, grey-brown fur blending with the bark. She climbed the way she did everything she loved. Quick, sure, unselfconscious. "Come on. It's better up high."
Mira followed. Fox claws gripped differently than rabbit paws, more pull and surety, but less experience doing this. Mira was hauling herself up steadily until Juniper caught her wrist and pulled her onto the wide branch where the trunk forked.
From here she could see over the rooftops. The school, the water tower, the hills going gold with afternoon. The wind moved through the canopy and Juniper's long ears swayed with it.
"I've never brought anyone up here," Juniper said.
"Not even Sage?"
"*
Especially* not Sage." Her mouth twitched. "'First one to the top wins.'"
Mira laughed. They sat shoulder to shoulder on the wide branch, listening to the leaves. Up here, in her own territory, Juniper looked different. Steady and confident, her eyes caught the light and Mira could only admire her.
"I come up here when things get loud," Juniper said quietly. "When my parents fight. Or school is just... *
much.*"
"Yeah." Mira understood *
loud.* Her version just came from inside her body.
"I keep thinking about you," Juniper said. "At school. During class. When I'm up here by myself." She picked at a strip of bark. "Even when I should be thinking about something else."
"Me too." Mira's tail flicked against Juniper's ankle on the branch. "I think about you even when I'm with—" She caught herself.
"Bear?" Juniper's voice was knowing.
"Yeah." *
And Dad.* "Even then. You're different."
"Am I?"
"You're the best."
Juniper turned to face her. "Under the oak tree at school," she said. "That was really fast..."
*
Her eyes are so blue.* Mira was nodding.
The oak tree. Sage swiping Theo's bookmark, the holographic one with the transformation sequence that shifted between three forms when you tilted it, Theo actually dropping from the branch to chase her. Noses bumping, then Juniper's mouth on hers, soft and quick and gone. Mira had replayed it every night since.
"Yeah," she said. "It was."
"And later that night... in your room, before the game room..." Juniper's ears were relaxed, waving in the light breeze. "When we were kissing and touching each other, and you licked your paw and winked at me... kind of bratty, but *
hot.*"
Mira's cheeks burned. She remembered. Juniper's finger was curling inside her while their tongues found each other for the first time, the taste of her, the small surprised sound she'd made when Mira kissed her deeper. And then the wink. The strand of Juniper's arousal between her fingers. The way those blue eyes had gone wide.
"Yeah," she breathed. "*
That was something.*"
"I want something to remember, though. A real first kiss. Ever since I was little, you know... I was imagining how it might happen, where it should happen." Juniper's gaze drifted across the rooftops, the golden hills, then back. "Who it should happen with." Her ears twitched. "So I brought you here."
*
She planned this.* Mira felt herself smile, her eyes watered just a little, *
she's making me her first. Choosing this.*
Juniper's paw found her cheek. Not hesitant. *
Sure.* She cupped Mira's face like she'd been imagining exactly this, her thumb tracing the sharp line of Mira's cheek tuft.
She leaned in.
Juniper's lips found hers. The slight tremble of a mouth that had rehearsed this.
She tasted like lemonade. Sharp under the sweet, the sensation blazed bright enough to scour everything else from Mira's thoughts and leave only *
here.*
*
Juni wants -me- to remember this.*
The branch creaked beneath them. Their muzzles didn't match but it didn't matter. Her fox snout long and narrow against Juniper's blunt whiskers, noses bumping, negotiating space, the angle wrong and wrong again until Juniper tilted her head and something gave, and the kiss deepened into the space their different shapes made together.
Mira's tail curled around the rabbit's hip on its own.
The hot puff of Juniper's snout against her cheek. Her friend's blunt front teeth under Mira's tongue. Juniper's own tongue tracing the edge of Mira's canines, careful and curious, the smaller tongue no less sure for being gentle. Push and pull, neither leading, neither following. *
The ebb and flow of her.*
*
Girlfriends.*
Twenty feet up, wind in their ears, the world reduced to a gold-washed backdrop for *
this.*
When they pulled apart, Juniper's ears were flushed.
"Better," she whispered.
"*
Way* better."
They stayed in the tree until the light went gold. Juniper's paw in hers, fingers laced against the bark. Every few minutes one of them squeezed and the other squeezed back, and the lemonade stayed on Mira's tongue long after the kissing stopped.
———————
Later, around 6:30 with Juniper's door carefully locked and her mom safely downstairs watching TV, they lay tangled on the small bed, just being close. Juniper's head on Mira's shoulder, their tails touching, fingers loosely intertwined.
"I've been practicing," Juniper said quietly. "Like we talked about. I know I told you, but... every night."
Mira's breath caught. "Yeah?"
"Three fingers now." Juniper's ears flushed. "It's getting easier. My body's... learning, I guess. Like you said it would."
"That's really good, Juni." Mira squeezed her hand. "Can I... see?" She blushed, "really, I want to touch you again."
Juniper nodded, cheeks darkening. They had to be quiet, so quiet, with her parents just downstairs, but when Mira slipped her paw beneath Juniper's waistband, she found her already wet. Anticipation, trust, want.
One finger slid in easily. Two followed without resistance. And when Mira pressed in a third, Juniper sighed with contentment rather than tension, her body opening, accepting, *
learning.*
"You're doing so good," Mira breathed against her ear. "God you're so warm inside."
"It feels good now." Juniper's voice was just as quiet, her hips shifting slightly. "Not scary. Just... full."
Mira worked her slowly, carefully. Stretching, preparing. Patient. When she finally withdrew, Juniper looked at her with bright eyes.
"Am I ready? For Bear?"
"Getting there." Mira kissed her forehead. "Next time I'll bring something to help."
"Something?"
"Toys." Mira's face warmed. "Special ones. For... practicing with something bigger than fingers."
Juniper's ears perked with curiosity, but before she could ask more, footsteps sounded on the stairs. They scrambled apart, straightening clothes, trying to look innocent by the time Mrs. Ashford's voice called through the door:
"Girls? Dinner's almost ready. Mira, are you staying?"
Mira wanted to. God, she wanted to. But the heat was getting harder to ignore. Being away from Dad and Bear for hours had left her wound tight, desperate in ways she couldn't satisfy here.
"I should get home," she called back. "My dad's expecting me."
She texted Dad for a pickup. They waited a few minutes holding hands.
As her dad pulled up to the house Juniper walked her to the door, and they hugged goodbye, longer than necessary, tight enough to feel each other's heartbeats.
"Next time," Juniper whispered. "At your house. With the toys."
"Next time," Mira promised.
———————
She hopped into the truck, seatbelt forgotten, her whole body humming with anticipation. "Hi Daddy, let's get home!"
He was barely through the front door before she was on him, the relief on her face obvious because he just opened his arms. She crashed into him, pressing close, already reaching for his belt.
"That bad?" he murmured, amused and tender.
"*
Hours,* Daddy. I was away for *
hours.*"
He didn't make her wait. Right there in the hallway, her back against the wall, he lifted her and slid home.
*
Finally.* The stretch of him, the heat, the perfect fullness she'd been aching for all afternoon. Her body clenched around him like it was trying to pull him deeper, keep him there forever—
And she came. Hard and sudden, the orgasm crashing through her before he'd even started to move.
"There you go," he whispered, holding her through it. "Daddy's got you."
But the first one only sharpened the need. She could feel every ridge of him now, every vein pressed hot against her walls, and it wasn't enough; her heat-drunk body demanded *
more.*
"Please—" She was already moving, grinding down against him, trying to take him deeper. "Daddy, please, I need—"
"I know." He started to thrust, pinning her harder against the wall, and she sobbed with relief. "I know what you need, baby."
She felt his knot start to swell against her entrance. Nudging, pressing, stretching her wider with each stroke. Her body opened for it eagerly, desperate to be filled, to be *
locked*—
"*
Yes*—" The word tore out of her as it caught. That perfect lock, the swell grinding right where she needed it. She clenched around him and felt every throb of his pulse, every twitch as he buried himself to the root.
Then he came.
The first hot rush of it flooded through her like a balm, soothing the fever that had been burning under her skin for hours. Her heat-slick walls drank him in greedily, and she shuddered at the relief of it: finally full, finally *
his,* the desperate edge smoothed down, warm and heavy and good.
"*
Daddy.*" She clung to him while the aftershocks rolled through, face buried in his neck, breathing him in. His knot pulsed inside her, still spilling, and each wave sent another ripple of pleasure through her oversensitive body. "Thank you, thank you—"
"Shh." His hand stroked down her spine. "I've got you. Always."
They stayed like that, locked together against the hallway wall, panting. Then he slid down with her still knotted on his lap, both of them settling on the hallway floor. She nuzzled into his neck, feeling the clench and pulse of the tie, feeling him fill her with each slow spurt.
"Good visit?" he asked against her ear.
"Yeah." She thought of Juniper's paws filing her claws. The brush moving through her fur. That soft kiss before dinner. "Really good."
"I'm glad." His knot softened enough to slip free, and she whimpered at the loss. "Bear's been pacing since you left. He missed you too."
As if summoned, Bear appeared from the living room, whole body wiggling, that curled tail uncurling and flopping side to side as his nose found the hem of her skirt. She laughed and knelt to greet him, letting him sniff and lick and press close—and when his tongue found what Dad had left behind, she didn't stop him. Just sighed and spread her knees a little wider, letting him clean her while Dad watched from the hallway, leaning against the wall with a fond expression.
"Dinner first," Dad said eventually, "or are you going to let him have dessert before the meal?"
"Both," she mumbled, already hazy from Bear's attention. "Both is good."
They ended up on the living room floor. Bear mounting her while Dad made pasta in the kitchen, the domestic sounds of pots and running water mixing with her soft gasps. When Bear's knot locked inside her, he turned the tie, and she stayed ass up on the carpet, tail flipped over her back, cheek pressed to the floor, listening to Dad hum something melodic and low as he cooked. The smell of garlic and tomatoes filled the house. Bear panted behind her, his cum pulsing in slow spurts as her pussy worked his knot. Dad's humming drifted in from the kitchen, *
warm,* and her eyes closed.
When Bear's knot finally softened and slipped free, Dad called her to the table. She padded over on wobbly legs, still feeling the pleasant ache of being well-used, and slid into her usual chair. Bear settled at her feet, nose resting on her ankle.
"So." Dad set a bowl of pasta in front of her, steam rising. "Tell me about Juniper."
Mira twirled her fork, suddenly shy. "She's... really nice. Her house smells like herbs and old books." She took a bite, chewed, swallowed. "She brushed my fur. Like, properly. With a real brush."
"Yeah?" Dad sat across from her, his own bowl in hand. "That sounds nice."
"It was." She thought about Juniper's paws working through her tail, the gentle tug against her scalp. "She filed my claws too. Said they were getting too sharp." Mira held up a paw to show him: neat, rounded edges instead of her usual jagged points.
Dad reached across the table and took her paw, examining her claws with genuine interest. "Good job. Much better."
"And she has this tree." Mira twirled pasta, trying to sound casual. "Behind her house, at the edge of the woods. She took me up to the top. You can see the whole town from there." She took a bite, chewed. "She said she's never taken anyone else up there."
"She kissed me," Mira blurted. Then, quieter: "In the tree. Like, a real one."
*
The rest stayed folded inside her... Juniper's fingers, the promise between them, the fluttering in her tummy when they touched, laying in her bed with their paws tangled together. Hers to keep. At least for now.*
Dad's face stayed steady, but his ears gave a single soft twitch. "Did you like it?"
"Yeah." She pulled her paw back, suddenly very interested in her pasta. "I want to go back. If that's okay."
Dad was quiet for a moment, but had a warm expression. Not the careful quiet of working something out, just... looking at her. Reading her the way only he could.
"You light up when you talk about her," he said. "Your whole face changes."
Mira's ears burned. "Daddy—"
"I'm serious." His voice was soft, no teasing in it. "You should have that, cub. Someone your own age who makes you feel like that." His ears swiveled forward, fully present. "That's something you deserve to explore. We have each other, always, cub." He reached over and held her paw. Squeezing. Reassuring. "I can't give you what Juni might, and I want you to have it."
The words landed deep and honest. The way he was about the hard things.
"You give me enough," she whispered.
"Of course, love, but..." he met her eyes across the table, and she saw it there. The love that had no clean name, the one that lived in hallways and bedtime and the space between *
Daddy* and *
Dad.* "She gives you something different."
He ate in comfortable silence for a moment, then: "Oh, I have something for you. Arrived this afternoon."
He got up and disappeared into his office, returning with something flat wrapped in brown paper. Mira set down her fork, ears perking forward.
"Open it," he said, sliding it across the table.
She tore the paper away, and there it was. The otter. Framed in simple black, all those muscles labeled in his neat hand, the fur so detailed you wanted to reach out and touch it. Even more beautiful than it had looked on his screen.
"*
Daddy.*" She looked up at him, her throat tight. "You got it printed."
"Told you I would." He was smiling, that soft private smile he saved just for her. "Where do you want it? I can hang it tonight."
"My room." No hesitation. "Above my desk. So I can see it when I wake up."
"Show me where."
She carried it to her room like it was made of glass, Bear padding along behind them. Dad had brought his tools, just a hammer and a nail, nothing fancy. She pointed to the spot on the wall, and he measured with his eyes the way he always did, then tapped the nail in with two clean strokes.
The otter hung perfectly centered. All those muscles. All that detail. Daddy's work hanging in her space.
"It's perfect," she whispered.
Dad's arm came around her shoulders. "Glad you like it."
She turned into him, pressing her face against his chest, and his arms wrapped around her properly. They stood there for a long moment, just breathing together, the otter watching from the wall.
"Thank you," she said. "For—everything. Today."
He kissed the top of her head. "Always."
Later, after Dad took his turn, slow and sweet on her own bed beneath the otter's gaze, they stayed there. Just the two of them, curled together, the labeled muscles glowing faintly in the last of the light. She listened to his heartbeat slow toward sleep.
Somewhere across town, Juniper was probably lying in her own bed, thinking about next time.
The thought made Mira smile as she drifted off.
———————
Monday
Monday lunch, their usual corner. Sage reached across and took half of Theo's sandwich without asking, biting into it while holding his gaze. Theo reached into his bag and produced a second sandwich, already wrapped, already cut. He set it in front of her.
"You always look hungry," he said. "And your mom packs you granola bars."
Sage stared at him. The stolen half frozen mid-bite. Her ears did something Mira had never seen them do: went completely still.
"I make better sandwiches," Theo added, and opened his book.
Sage ate both halves without another word. Juniper was sketching something in the margin of her notebook, her knee warm against Mira's under the table. Between strokes, she reached into her lunch bag, pulled out a banana, peeled it in one motion, and demolished half of it in a single bite.
Sage stared. "Did you just *
unhinge your jaw?*"
"Mm?" Juniper looked up, cheeks packed, the other half already disappearing. She chewed twice, swallowed, and reached for a second banana from her bag.
"You brought *
two?*"
"Rabbits need to eat constantly." Juniper peeled the second one with practiced efficiency, her blunt front teeth finding the seam. "We don't digest as well as you guys. In the wild it's different, ferals have a whole system, they eat their own—"
"Please don't finish that sentence," Mira said.
"—pellets." Juniper bit off half the banana without shame.
"That's *
disgusting!*" Sage said. "The pellet thing."
"Yeah it's gross, why do you think I'm smashing bananas instead? I'd never." She popped the last bite in her mouth, ears bouncing with satisfaction.
Theo turned a page. "Cecotrophy. The process is called cecotrophy. It's actually nutritionally efficient."
"Theo, I am *
begging* you to stop." Sage's ears had gone flat, her tail lashing once behind her.
Sage wiped her snout with the back of her paw, swallowing the final bite of Theo's sandwich, and elbowed him playfully. "Thanks. For the sandwich, coulda skipped the lecture."
"Sooo, pellets aside..." Sage produced a battered deck of cards from her backpack, scattering crumbs off the table with her elbow. "New game. I learned it from my brother. It's called Spite."
"That sounds healthy," Theo said.
"It's *
strategic.*" She was already dealing, fast and sloppy, cards landing in uneven piles. "You play in pairs. Me and Theo versus you two."
They played three rounds while they ate.
First round, Sage laid down a seven and immediately drew two cards from Juniper's pile. "Sevens are steals. House rule."
"That's not a rule," Theo said.
"Sure it is. I'm just teaching it now!"
"You can't legislate mid-hand."
"Watch me. We're on the same team anyway." She fanned her stolen cards and grinned at him, all teeth.
Second round, Juniper figured out the actual rules underneath Sage's chaos. Her ears went forward, her nose twitched twice, and she started slamming cards down with a focus that made Danny flinch from two tables over. Three-card combo, discard, draw, slam. The grin that spread across her face showed her front teeth, the big rabbit ones, and something behind it that was all predator.
"That's not—you can't just—" Sage sputtered.
"Sevens are steals." Juniper took the whole pile. "House rule."
Theo made a sound. Brief. Almost a laugh. Sage's ears swiveled toward it like she'd been shot.
Third round, Juniper played another seven. Sage slapped the table.
"Nines are shields. If you play a nine before someone plays a seven, the steal doesn't count."
Theo turned a card over in his fingers. "That's not real."
"It's a *
rule.* Anyone can use a nine."
"Interesting time to share that rule."
"It's *
strategic.*" *
Strategic means cheating,* Mira thought idly, but she didn't really care. It was *
fun.*
Sage and Theo lost.
Juniper wiped the table with all of them, carrying Mira through sheer ruthlessness, and Sage's outrage was so loud that Mrs. Patterson looked over from the teachers' table. Mira played badly and didn't care. The heat simmered under her skin, but here, watching Sage accuse a rabbit of card fraud while Theo quietly organized the deck by suit, it felt manageable. *
Normal.*
Mira caught movement across the cafeteria. That wolf kid from science class, Danny Martinez, sitting with his friends three tables over. His nose was working. She'd noticed him doing that before, tilting his head, nostrils flaring, tracking something only he could smell. Right now he was looking at their table.
At *
her.*
Sage followed her gaze across the cafeteria, then back. "That wolf kid's being weird at you again. Ignore him." She tapped the deck. "Heat is normal, it happens. We've got you. Play your cards."
She said it like it was nothing. Like protecting Mira was just another thing she did between stealing sandwiches and inventing card games. Mira's throat tightened.
"Your turn, Mira." Juniper nudged her ankle under the table. Grounding her.
She played her card.
———————
Third period was art. Ms. Chen had them drawing their own paws. "Contour study, no looking at the page." Mira's hand was shaking. The heat had been building all morning, a low pulse between her legs that made it hard to hold the pencil steady. She was usually good at this, Dad's steady hand in her muscle memory, but today her lines wobbled and forked where they should have been clean.
Juniper sat beside her at one of the drawing stations, larger tables specific to the art room, tongue poking out beside her front teeth as she worked. Her strokes were bolder than Mira's, rougher, but passionate. She attacked the page like she was arguing with it. At one point she leaned over to check Mira's work and her ear brushed Mira's cheek.
"Juni," Mira whispered, not looking up from her page. "My whole body is vibrating."
Juniper's foot pressed harder against hers. "I know. I can feel you shaking." A pause. "How bad?"
"Bad." She shifted in her seat, pressing her thighs together under the table. The seam of her jeans was right *
there* and every small movement sent a pulse through her that made it harder to think. "I just need to get through the day."
"Yours is better than mine," Juniper said, louder now, steering them back to normal. "Even shaky. How do you get the knuckle like that?"
"Dad showed me. You shade here, where the joint bends." Mira reached over and sketched a quick line on Juniper's page. "See? Depth."
Juniper studied it, then tried on her own, the line heavier than Mira's but *
there.* "Yeah!"
Juniper grinned and grabbed a folded scrap from her pocket and slid it across the table. A tiny sketch: two stick figures in a tree, one with a fox tail, one with long ears. A heart between them. Mira's ears burned and she folded it into her pocket before anyone could see.
Under the table, Juniper's foot found hers. They drew in comfortable silence after that, Mira's lines steadying, Juniper's strokes getting bolder, and the heat a little easier to bear with that small warm pressure against her ankle.

Wednesday
Mira couldn't make it through the school day anymore.
"Daddy, I need to come home."
The text went out at 11am. She was hiding in the bathroom, paws pressed between her legs, trying not to whimper out loud. The need was a living thing now, not just want, but *
necessity.* Her whole body was shaking with it.
Dad arrived in twenty minutes. Signed her out at the front office, something about a doctor's appointment. The secretary gave Mira a sympathetic look.
"First heat's always the hardest, sweetie. Take care of yourself."
If only she knew.
They didn't make it home. Dad pulled off on a quiet road, killed the engine, and she was in his lap before he could even undo his seatbelt. Her underwear was already off; she'd taken them off in the bathroom, couldn't stand the restriction anymore.
"Easy," he murmured, but he was already unzipping. Already hard. "Easy, I've got you—"
She sank down onto him with a cry that was more relief than pleasure. *
Finally, finally, finally.* Her body clenched around him like it was trying to milk him dry.
It was frantic. Desperate. She rode him in the driver's seat while cars passed on the highway a hundred yards away, and she didn't care, couldn't care about anything except the feeling of him inside her and the promise of his cum.
"*
Breed me, Daddy—*" The words came from somewhere below thought. She heard herself say them and felt his whole body seize beneath her, his cock jumping inside her, his grip on her hips going bruise-tight. She didn't take them back. "*
Please—breed me—*"
When he came, the warmth flooding into her felt like drinking water after days of thirst. She felt his knot swelling against her entrance, stretching her wider—and then it caught. Locked them together.
"Oh—" She pressed her face into his neck. "Daddy, your knot—"
"I know." His voice was strained. "I know, baby. Just hold still."
But holding still was impossible. Her body kept clenching around him in rhythmic waves, milking, pulling, trying to draw every drop deeper. Each squeeze made his knot throb in response, which made her clench again—an endless feedback loop of pressure and pleasure.
It wasn't enough.
"Again," she gasped. "Please, Daddy, I need more—"
"When we get home. Bear can help." He was breathing hard, one hand stroking her back. "But we can't stay here."
She whined. "But your knot—"
"I know." His hand found her hip, steadying her. "Keep your head down if anyone gets close."
The engine rumbled to life beneath them. Mira gasped at the vibration—it traveled right through the seat, through him, into her. Every part of her that was stretched around his knot suddenly buzzed with sensation.
"*
Oh*—"
"Shh." Dad put the truck in gear. "Hold onto me."
She wrapped her arms around his chest and buried her face against him as he pulled back onto the road. The motion shifted him inside her—not thrusting, just... moving. Adjusting with every turn of the wheel.
The first pothole made her squeak.
"Sorry," Dad muttered, eyes fixed on the road. His knot pulsed inside her—involuntary, responding to her body's squeeze.
The second pothole made her moan.
"*
Daddy*—"
"I know." His muzzle clenched tight, focused. Both hands on the wheel, claws pressing into the leather. "Just—breathe through it."
She tried. Every bump in the road translated directly to where they were joined. His knot wasn't moving, couldn't move, but it was *
grinding* against her inner walls with each jostle. Pressing against her G-spot when the truck went over a bump. Pulling at her entrance when they hit a dip.
Headlights appeared ahead.
"Down," Dad said quietly.
She ducked, pressing herself flat against his chest, face hidden in his shirt. The other car passed. She stayed down, feeling his heartbeat against her cheek, feeling him throb inside her.
"Clear."
She lifted her head slightly. They were on the quieter roads now, in the neighborhood, closer to home.
Another bump. A deep one. His knot shifted and she felt a fresh pulse of warmth—he was still leaking into her, his body not quite done even after the main release.
"*
Hnn*—" She bit her lip.
"Almost there." His voice was rough. "Two more minutes."
The longest two minutes of her life. Every imperfection in the road was a small torture. A small gift. His knot throbbing silently, keeping them sealed together, his cum trapped inside her with nowhere to go.
When he finally pulled into the driveway, she was trembling.
"Okay." He put the truck in park but didn't kill the engine. "I'm going to try to—"
She shifted her hips experimentally. His knot tugged at her entrance, still too swollen.
"Not yet," she whispered. "Still stuck."
"Then we wait."
They sat in the driveway for another few minutes, the truck idling, his hands gentle on her back. Slowly, gradually, she felt the pressure ease. His knot began to deflate.
"Now," he said.
She lifted herself off him with a wet sound, immediately feeling the loss. His cum started leaking down her thighs the moment he slipped free.
Bear was at the door before they even reached it, pawing at the glass, whining. He could smell her heat, had been able to for days now, and his urgency was palpable.
Dad unlocked the door and Bear pushed past them both, nose going straight to Mira's thighs, to the source of the scent driving him wild.
She didn't even make it past the living room.
"*
Bear*—" She dropped to all fours right there on the carpet, tail flagging high, everything Dad had just put inside her now dripping down her thighs. "*
Please*—"
Bear needed no further invitation. He mounted her in one smooth motion, forepaws hooking around her hips, already thrusting before he'd fully settled his weight. His cock found her on the third thrust—slick and open and ready, still wet with Dad's cum—and drove home.
"*
Oh*—" She braced herself against the carpet as Bear set a punishing pace. No buildup, no gentleness: just raw animal need pounding into her. His claws scrabbled against her hips for purchase, his panting hot against the back of her neck. Each thrust made obscene wet sounds—Dad's load churning inside her, mixing with her own slick, foaming and easing Bear's way.
She caught movement at the edge of her vision. Dad, settling onto the couch, eyes dark, his hand working himself free through his jeans. Already hard again. She could feel him watching, feel the weight of his attention on her back while Bear drove into her, and the knowledge that Daddy was stroking himself to the sight of her made her clench hard enough to make Bear whine.
Bear's thrusts grew shorter. More urgent. She felt his knot starting to swell against her entrance, bumping against her with each drive forward. Growing. Stretching her wider each time until—
"*
Hnnn*—" The knot caught inside. She gasped at the sudden fullness, at the way it immediately started swelling larger now that it was caught. Bear's hips stuttered, grinding deep, and she felt the first hot pulse of his release flood into her—mixing with what Dad had already put there.
Bear shifted. Turned. One back leg lifted over her, and then they were tied back-to-back—both on all fours, Bear facing away, his knot locked deep in her pussy. The tension pulled at her entrance with every breath, every twitch. A hundred and fifteen pounds of Akita anchoring her from behind, going nowhere.
She dropped her head against the carpet, panting, trembling.
Dad's shadow fell over her.
He'd moved from the couch. She hadn't heard him. Bear's knot grinding inside her swallowed every other sensation. But he was there now, kneeling over her, straddling above Bear's turned hindquarters, his thighs settling on either side of her hips. Looking down at her. At the base of her tail. At where Bear's shaft disappeared into her stretched pussy below.
He held there for a moment. Just looking.
"Ass up, baby girl."
She arched her back, pressing her cheek into the carpet, and felt his hand grip the base of her tail—held it high. Bear's curled Akita tail brushed the inside of Dad's thigh, soft fur tickling his balls, and she heard him exhale through his teeth.
"*
Please*—" She didn't know what she was asking for. Just that Daddy was right there above her and she needed him.
He angled down and pushed his tapered tip against her puckered ring—small, patient thrusts, the slick mess leaking around Bear's tie easing his way. His weight settled over her as he sank deeper, chest against her back, knees braced on the carpet, his whole body pinning her flat. Bear's knot held her from behind, and every one of Dad's thrusts rocked her forward against the tie—tugging the swollen knot against her stretched rim, Bear scrabbling and whining at the pull.
Bear's knot throbbing in her pussy, massive and insistent. Dad's cock buried in her ass from above. The wall between them so thin she could feel every ridge of his shaft pressed against the swell of Bear's knot.
"*
Oh god*—" Bear's heart beat through his knot inside her, slow and rhythmic, pumping more cum into her womb. Dad started moving—short, careful thrusts that rocked her forward against Bear's tie, then pulled her back onto his own cock.
Every throb. Every pulse. Bear's knot swelled and Dad ground deeper. His downthrust rocked her forward against the tie, her pussy stretched wide as Bear's knot slipped against her straining ring, the thick bulb half-pulling free. When Daddy drew back her ass clenched and dragged with him, hauling her right back onto Bear, pussy spasming and clenching tight as the animal slammed home again—even as her ass stretched to its limit around Dad's shaft. Each hole taking turns. Each thrust stretching one wide while the other clenched. The pressure of Dad's cock and Bear's knot traded her back and forth.
*
Too much.*
The rhythm tightening, tightening, until her whole body hummed with it.
"*
Fuck*—fuck fuck fuck—*
uungh*—" Muffled against the carpet, her claws shredding the pile.
"Language, little one," he growled low into her ear. Playful.
Dad's teeth closed on her scruff. Gentle but firm—his maw around the loose fur at the back of her neck, matting it flat, the pressure pinning his little vixen. She went liquid under it. Every muscle surrendering at once. Her front half pressed to the carpet under his weight, face down, helpless. Her hips held up by Bear's tie pulling backward, the knot tugging at her stretched entrance even as Daddy pushed her forward and down. Stretched between them.
*
Both.* The word floated up through the haze, simple and complete. Not one, then the other. Not taking turns. Her whole family inside her at once, and the ache that had driven her out of school, out of her mind, finally answered.
Not by the stretch or the fullness. By *
presence.* Both of them here. Both of them hers.
They found each other through her body. Bear's knot throbbed on one side of that thin wall—the sliver of flesh that was all that kept pussy and ass apart. Dad's cock pressed against it from the other side, thickening as his own knot swelled to match. Two hot masses separated by almost nothing, grinding together through her. Bear pulsed and Dad's shaft jumped. Dad thrust deep and Bear's knot swelled harder. Talking to each other through the body between them.
"That's it," Dad murmured against her ear. "*
Perfect*, cub."
His knot caught. She felt it stretch her ass wide, locking in place just as she tipped over the edge—a full-body clench, Bear yelping, Dad groaning, her pussy seizing around one knot while her ass locked around the other. Two swollen bulbs pressed tight against that thin wall from both sides, each surge answered by the other, and she was just *
held.* Pinned between them. Nowhere to go. Nothing left to give.
Dad came with a groan that vibrated through her scruff, his weight pinning her flat. She couldn't move even if she wanted to. Double knotted, tail held high, both of them spilling into her at once. Dad's thick ropes flooding her ass, Bear's thinner cum still pooling in her womb, separated by less than an inch of her own body, heat blooming from both sides until she couldn't tell whose warmth was whose.
While they waited for the knots to soften, Daddy licked and nuzzled the back of her neck, grooming her fur flat the way Mama used to when she was small. She went still under it. *
Like when I was a kit.* Bear's knot slipped free first, then Dad's. She collapsed forward onto the carpet. Boneless, trembling, cum leaking from both holes.
For a moment, stillness. Just the sound of breathing, hers ragged, Dad's heavy, Bear's panting.
Dad sat back against the couch, catching his breath. Bear circled once, then his nose found her again, drawn to the scent, the mess, the heat still radiating from her small body.
His tongue dragged across her pussy.
"*
Ah*—" She shivered but didn't move. Couldn't move. Just lay there while Bear cleaned her, long, slow laps, patient and thorough. Each stroke sent little aftershocks through her oversensitive body.
"Good boy," Dad murmured. "Clean her up."
Mira turned her head, cheek against the carpet, watching Dad through half-lidded eyes. He was soft now, resting, his tip still peeking out of his sheath. But his gaze stayed fixed on her, on Bear's tongue working between her legs, on the way her hips twitched with each pass.
"Feels good," she whispered.
"Yeah?" Dad's voice was fond. "Let him take care of you for a bit. We both need to recover."
Minutes passed. The desperate edge of her heat softened to a warmer, more diffuse ache, still present, still *
needing,* but patient now. Content to be tended to. She came once, quietly, and Bear licked her through it, then kept going.
Eventually Bear lost interest and padded to his water bowl. Dad hadn't moved from the couch. Just sat there the whole time, watching her with soft eyes.
He reached down and gathered her off the carpet, pulling her into his lap, her back against his chest. Both of them still half-dressed. Still sticky. His hand found her belly, rested there.
"Better?"
She pressed into his palm. The clawing urgency that had driven her out of school, that had made the world feel like walls closing in. Gone. Not the heat itself. That would build again tomorrow, would chase her through classes she couldn't focus on, would send her running to him or Bear or both. But the desperation had broken. Her body had been heard, answered in every way it knew how to ask, and now it could be patient again.
"Yeah," she whispered. "Better."
Bear's claws clicked back from the kitchen. He flopped at their feet with a contented groan, muzzle still dripping.
She could have stayed like this forever.

Thursday
The next day at school, Juniper found her behind the gym.
"I heard you left early yesterday," she said, settling onto the bench beside Mira. "Mrs. Patterson said you looked sick."
"Not sick." Mira glanced around, making sure they were alone. "Just... needy. Really needy. I couldn't wait."
Juniper's ears perked forward. "For Bear?"
"Yeah." Mira's face warmed. "It's been really intense this week. Like my body won't let me think about anything else."
"I've been thinking too." Juniper's voice dropped even lower, almost a whisper. "About what you said. About the toys. About getting... *
filled.*"
The word sent a jolt through Mira. "Yeah?"
"I keep imagining it." Juniper's cheeks were pink beneath her grey fur. "Being stretched open. Having something *
inside* me. Something bigger than fingers." She bit her lip. "Is that weird?"
"No." Mira's throat was dry. "That's exactly how it's supposed to feel."
"I want it." Juniper's eyes were bright, determined. "This weekend. I want to try."
"Saturday," Mira promised. "I'll have everything ready."
———————
Week Five: Dripping
Saturday
Saturday came with its own kind of electricity.
Juniper arrived at noon, practically vibrating with anticipation. Dad gave them space. "I'll be in the garage if you need anything."
He'd been building a pool table from oak for weeks now, working from his own drawings. The frame was done, solid, heavy, joined without screws the way he did everything. She'd peeked at the legs last weekend. Dragon claws gripping spheres at the base of each one, carved by hand, the scales so detailed she could feel them with her fingertip. She thought they were the coolest thing he'd ever made. The felt would be black. He'd ordered it already, along with the slate, and the whole thing lived in the garage in various stages of becoming while he sanded and shaped and varnished.
Bear followed the girls upstairs instead, nose already working, his heavy paws eager on each step.
Mira's bedroom door clicked shut. She pulled a small bag from under her bed.
"I borrowed something." She reached inside and produced a silicone toy: canine-shaped, tapered tip, textured shaft, and at the base, a knot about as wide as four fingers pressed together. The whole thing was maybe five inches long. "It was my Mom's, before she—I think she used it for... practice." Ears flattened for a moment, tail did a tentative swish, Mira's head tilted. "It makes me feel closer to her, is it weird?"
It *
had* been in Dad's drawer, but it *
was* Mama's, and now it was *
hers*. Juniper didn't need to know that—
Juniper bounced into Mira, bundled herself around her neck, almost winding her. Mira stiffened, then softened into the hug. The knotted silicone toy still in her fist, pressed against Juniper's back between her shoulder blades.
Juni pulled back a little, gave her a kiss on her snout, then took the toy, turned it over in her paws. Her eyes went wide. "It has the bump. Like Bear's."
"Yeah, the knot." Mira sat beside her on the bed. "It doesn't swell like a real one, but it's shaped right. So you can practice taking it."
"It's bigger than I expected." Juniper's voice wavered. "Is Bear's...?"
"Bigger. I mean... you saw him up close. But this is a good start."
Bear had settled in the corner, watching. His nose twitched constantly, pulling in the scent of two aroused girls, of heat, of *
ready.*
"Okay." Juniper set the toy down, took a breath. "Show me."
Juniper lay back on Mira's bed, knees bent, legs spread. Mira settled between her thighs and just... looked, for a moment.
Different. So different from her own body.
Juniper's was a neat vertical seam, almost hidden in the cream fur between her legs. Compact. Tucked away. You had to spread her open to see anything at all.
*
Neat,* Mira thought. Everything tucked away, hidden until someone was invited in. She knew what she looked like by comparison. Swollen lips that parted on their own, folds that showed pink whether she wanted them to or not. She'd stood in front of the bathroom mirror enough times, wondering why hers was so... *
much.*
Mira spread her open, gently, and Juniper shivered. Then propped herself on her elbows, catching something in Mira's face.
"What?"
"Nothing. You're just..." Mira's ears flattened. "You're so neat. Down there. Mine's all—"
"Yours is *
pretty.*" Juniper said, voice light, *
singing* while her hips swayed. "When you were with Bear I couldn't stop looking. Everything pink and open and..." Her ears flushed. "I went home and looked at mine and it was just a line. Like nothing was even there."
"You're perfect," Mira said quietly.
"So are you. Like a *
flower*." Juniper sang again then lay back down. "*
Touch me.*"
*
A flower.* She flushed, smiling, her fingers tracing through Juni's folds, spreading her open.
"You're wet," Mira observed. A thin glaze of slick coated Juniper's inner folds, not the heavy, dripping arousal Mira produced when she was in heat, but present and ready.
"Yeah?" Juniper rolled her hips lazily against Mira.
*
It's a start.*
"Yeah, we need a little more though so it's comfy." Mira reached for the lube, warming it in her palm. "Your own slick helps things slide in instead of catching. But we're going further than your body expects today, so..."
She added a generous amount to her fingers, mixed it with what Juniper was already producing.
"Cold," Juniper breathed.
"It'll warm up." One finger slid in easy; Juniper's body remembered this part. Two fingers, and the rabbit sighed, her hips tilting up. "It's easier than last time."
"I've been practicing. Every night." Juniper's ears were pink. "Like you said."
Mira curled her fingers, found the spot that made Juniper gasp: two fingers inside, her thumb rubbing that tiny nub nearly hidden under cream fur. Juniper was getting wetter and Mira could feel it, slick heat building around her knuckles, the bunny's body was preparing for what she really wanted.
"Good girl." She withdrew slowly, reaching for the toy with her other hand. "Ready for more?"
Juniper nodded, ears trembling.
The tapered tip pressed against her entrance, slick now with lube and Juniper's own wetness combined. Juniper's breath hitched.
"Just the tip first." Mira eased it in: one inch, two. The texture made Juniper whimper. "Feel okay?"
"*
Yes.*" Juniper's hips tilted, trying to take more. "It's—it feels *
real.* Like it's alive."
"That's the point, but... real is something *
more.*" Mira worked the toy slowly, in and out, letting Juniper's body learn the shape of it. "The toy's cold and you have to warm it up. The real thing is like lava inside."
Each stroke went a little deeper, the slick letting it glide where dry friction would have caught. She watched Juniper's compact little slit stretch around the shaft, those neat rabbit lips parting, pink visible now where everything had been hidden before. Each time she pulled it out, her lips suctioned just a little, grasping the silicone.
"*
Oh—*" Juniper's paws gripped the sheets. "It's so much *
bigger* than fingers—"
"Way bigger." *
Not bigger than three of Daddy's fingers though.* In, out. Then a little deeper. Mira found a rhythm, felt Juniper's body relax into it, accepting more with each stroke. The rabbit's hips started moving on their own, chasing the fullness when Mira pulled back.
When the knot finally kissed her entrance, Juniper tensed.
"That's it." Mira held the toy steady. "That's the knot. You don't have to—"
"I want it." Juniper's eyes opened, found hers. "I want to know."
Mira pressed. The knot stretched her wider—Juniper gasped, her back arching—but it wouldn't go. Not enough pressure. Not from this angle.
"It's too—I can't—" Juniper's voice was frustrated, not scared. "I can feel it *
right there* but it won't—"
"Wait." Mira eased the toy out, thinking. Then she remembered how it had been for her, Dad's knot, and the difficulty of taking it lying down. "I have an idea."
She pressed the suction cup base of the toy against the hardwood floor beside the bed. It stuck firm.
"Sit on it," Mira said. "Use your weight. Gravity helps."
Juniper's ears perked with understanding. She slid off the bed, positioned herself over the toy, knees spread wide, the slick tip brushing her entrance. Mira knelt beside her.
"Go slow. Take the shaft first, get used to it again."
Juniper sank down. Inch by inch, the toy disappeared into her small body. Mira watched from below. Watched those compact rabbit lips stretch wide around the girth, pink flesh gripping silicone, slick glistening where their bodies met.
"*
Mmnh—*" Juniper bottomed out on the shaft, the knot pressing against her entrance. "Okay. Okay, I'm going to try."
She pressed down. The knot started to spread her—wider than the shaft, wider than she'd ever stretched—and Juniper whimpered, trembling with effort.
"Wait." Mira reached for the lube. "A little more."
She drizzled it around the base of the toy, then traced her finger along Juniper's stretched folds, the full circle where silicone met flesh, slipping between them, coating every point of contact. Juniper shuddered at the intimate touch.
"*
That's—*" Her voice cracked. "*
Your finger is right there, I can feel it—*"
"Try again. Slow." Mira leaned in, her muzzle finding the tiny nub at the top of Juniper's stretched entrance. She lapped at it gently, tongue swirling, coaxing more slick from her friend's body.
"*
Oh—*" Juniper's thighs trembled. "*
Mira—*"
Mira didn't stop. She worked her tongue in slow circles while Juniper rocked above her, rolling her hips back and forth, the motion grinding her clit against the knot's widest point and Mira's tongue at once. More wetness flowed, easing the stretch, and Juniper whimpered with each roll.
"*
It's—I'm so close—it almost—*"
Mira lapped harder, felt Juniper's body shuddering, felt her bearing down with renewed determination. The knot stretched her wider, *
wider*—her lips straining around the widest point, Mira's tongue still working—
*
Schlluck.*
Juniper's body closed around the narrow base, locking the knot inside. She sat there impaled, gasping, and Mira pulled back to look up at her.
Their eyes met.
Juniper's face was flushed, her ears splayed, her whole body trembling. But she was *
smiling,* bright and triumphant and full of wonder.
Mira smiled back.
"*
I did it.*" Juniper's voice was breathless. "*
I took a knot.*"
"You did." Mira reached up, touched her cheek. "You're amazing."
Juniper sat there, adjusting. Her breathing slowed. Her body relaxed around the intrusion, learning to hold it.
"I'm ready." Juniper's blue eyes were shining. "For Bear. I'm ready now."
Juni bounced up and down on the floor playfully pumping her paws in the air, letting her pussy clench against the base of the knot still suctioned to the floor, wet squelching with each bunny hop and clenching to keep it in.
Mira laughed, wrapping her tail around her tummy and rolled back onto the floor, looking at the glow-in-the-dark stars on her ceiling.
She wanted to believe it, wanted Juniper to have what she had, to feel what she felt. But, she glanced while lying down, looking at Bear in the corner, at the thick red cock already emerging from his sheath...
"Let's make sure," she said carefully. "Just his tip. To see how you feel."
She pushed herself up again and helped Juniper ease off the toy, a slow process, the knot stretching her entrance wide before finally slipping free with a wet slippery sound. Juniper gasped at the sudden emptiness, her body clenching around nothing.
"*
Oh*—that's so weird. I feel so... open."
"Good." Mira set the toy aside. "Let's try, *
carefully,* while you feel that way."
———————
Bear needed no encouragement.
The moment Mira guided him toward Juniper, the rabbit on all fours, her body still open and slick from the toy, he was there. Eager. Interested. His nose pressed against her, drinking in her scent.
"God, his *
smell,*" Juniper breathed. She'd had her muzzle pressed against him before, had wrapped her lips around that red cock and tasted him, but somehow it was different now. With her body stretched open, still aching from the knot she'd just released, his musk hit her somewhere deeper. Made something clench low in her belly. "I keep forgetting he's... that he's really an *
animal.* And I still want..."
She trailed off, ears flushing pink.
"Want what?" Mira's voice was gentle.
"I want *
him on top of me.*" Small but certain. "I want to feel his cock... cumming inside me—" She swallowed. "Is that bad?"
"Yeah... it's bad." Mira kept one hand on Bear's collar, steadying him. "But that's what makes it intense." Juniper's ears had gone shy; Mira kissed her. "I want to watch."
Juniper shivered involuntarily. She wanted *
this.* Whatever *
this* was... What Mira had.
"Ready?"
"Ready."
Mira's free hand found his shaft and guided the tip to Juniper's entrance. *
Hot.* Juni's slick heat radiating against her knuckles, Bear's pulse throbbing against her palm. Alive and twitching. She felt the rabbit flinch at the contact.
"*
Oh—*" Her voice went high. "He's so *
warm*—"
"That's normal." Mira guided him, just the tip, just barely inside. "How does it feel?"
"*
Big.*" Juniper was trembling. "Bigger than the toy. And it's—it's *
moving*—I can feel it moving—"
Bear's hips twitched. Instinct. He pushed forward an inch, hips bucking slowly, testing the entrance. Juniper rocked to meet him, her eyes going glassy, her mouth falling open in a way Mira recognized. That look. The one she knew from her own face in the mirror.
Then his hips started to piston faster. Tip slipping deeper, two, three inches in rapid succession, jackhammering in and out. Mira could hear the wet sounds, could see Bear's precum spraying with each thrust, Juniper's eyes rolling back, her small body pushing *
toward* him instead of away—
She wanted more. Mira could see it in the way her hips chased each stroke.
Bear pressed with all his effort. Mira's hand wrapped around his shaft, wedged between the knot and her friend's entrance, but each thrust crushed her fingers against Juniper's stretched lips, the knot swelling and battering, and she was only eleven and Bear was bigger than she was. Four inches of his 9.5 inch cock, the tapered tip alone larger than the toy's base at that depth—too fast, too much, *
wait*—
Juniper *
screamed.*
"*
STOP—*" Her whole body locked up. "*
It's too much, Mira, it's too much—*"
Mira yanked Bear back by his collar. His cock slipped free with a wet sound, his hips still thrusting, but now hitting air. He whined, confused, but she held him firm.
"It's okay." She gathered Juniper in her arms, felt the smaller girl shaking. Tears were streaming down her face. "It's okay, you're okay, you did so good—"
"I couldn't—" Juniper's voice cracked. "I thought I was ready, I took the toy, but he's so *
big* and he wanted to go *
fast* and I couldn't make him stop—"
"I know." Mira rocked her gently. "I know. It's not your fault."
"Why couldn't I do it?" Juniper pulled back, wiped her eyes with the back of her paw. "You do it. You take him all the time. What's wrong with me?"
A sob rattled through her. Juniper's whole body clenched against Mira's chest, shuddering, nose running, paws pressing between her own legs like she could hold the hurt in. Then a sound came out of her that wasn't crying, a thin and tight wail, *
pain and defeat.*
Mira's heart shattered.
She didn't speak. Just held her, rocking, one hand stroking Juniper's ears flat while the other slipped between them, gently, checking. No blood. No tear. Just swollen, stretched, slick with Bear's precum. Juniper flinched at the touch but didn't pull away.
*
I got him off in time.*
"You're okay," Mira whispered. "You're not hurt. I promise."
Juniper's breathing slowed, just a little. Mira kept rocking.
Bear had settled in the corner, licking himself, uninterested in the emotional aftermath. Just a dog. A dog who didn't know he'd been too much, who understood too much but couldn't understand degrees of okay. Mira watched him over Juniper's head and felt something complicated move through her chest. She loved him. She couldn't blame *
him*—she was furious with herself for letting this happen. It wasn't a useful feeling right now, but it was honest.
Juniper's paw found the hem of Mira's shirt and gripped. Not pulling. Just holding on to something that wasn't moving.
"Nothing's wrong with you." Mira cupped Juniper's face, made her meet her eyes. "I had years of practice before Bear. Fingers and toys aren't enough. He can't *
stop.* Can't tell when it's too much." She kissed the bunny between her ears. "He's all instincts."
Juniper wiped her nose with the back of her paw. Her ears were still flat but her breathing had found a rhythm, hitching less, the sobs spacing out. She looked at Bear in the corner, at the thick red cock retreating back into his sheath, and her expression wasn't fear. It was frustration. The face of someone who'd trained and prepared and wanted so badly and hit a wall her body couldn't climb.
"You need what I had," Mira said quietly.
Juniper looked back at her, eyes watering. "What?" She sniffled, then quietly, "what... did *
you* have?" Her ears raised slightly as tears matted her cheeks.
The question hung between them. Mira could lie. Could make something up. Could push this off until later.
But Juniper was crying. Juniper was *
hurting.* And she deserved the truth.
"Someone who could control himself," Mira said quietly. "Someone who stretched me over years. Starting when I was seven. Patiently. Carefully. His fingers, his... his tip, a little at a time. Getting me ready for something my body wasn't built for." She swallowed. "Someone who could feel when I needed him to stop. Who loved me enough to go slow."
Juniper's tears were flowing, but her sobs had softened. She was watching Mira with those big rabbit eyes. They were watering, but cleared to focus.
"Someone in your family," she said. Not a question.
"Yeah."
"Your dad."
Mira didn't answer. Didn't have to.
"Oh." Juniper's voice was very small. Then, softer: "*
Oh.*"
She wasn't looking at Mira anymore. Her eyes had gone distant, tracking backward through everything she knew. The way Mira knew exactly where to touch her. The toy that was her *
Mom's.* How Mira talked about stretching like she'd lived it. The easy way she took Bear, took things that should have been impossible for a girl her size, things that were impossible for Juniper even with practice. How she was always a little wet, always a little swollen, like her body was used to being full.
"Since you were little," Juniper said. Not a question. "He's been... stretching you. Getting you ready."
"*
Years,*" Mira whispered.
Juniper was quiet for a long time. Her paw had found Mira's, but loosely now, like she was deciding whether to hold on or let go.
"Are you safe?" Her voice was careful. "Does he... did he make you?"
"No. Juni, no, he never—"
"Because if he *
made* you—" Juniper's eyes were fierce suddenly, wet and red but *
fierce*, the same girl who'd squared her shoulders and asked to be stretched. "If he hurt you, I'd tell. Sacred pact or not. I'd tell someone."
Mira's throat closed. Nobody had ever said that to her. Nobody had ever looked at her life and thought to ask.
"He didn't make me," she said. "I asked him to."
Juniper searched her face. Whatever she found there, it was enough. The fierceness softened, but didn't leave entirely.
Then, lower, almost a whisper: "This is *
really, really* wrong, isn't it?" Her ears folded back, small against the weight of it.
The words landed in Mira's chest like a stone. Not because Juniper was accusing her. Because she was *
right.* Because Mira had thought it a thousand times and never once heard it said out loud.
"Yeah," Mira said. "It is."
"And you love him anyway."
"More than anything. He's... not just Daddy. We're *
lovers.* He's been my everything until... you."
Juniper's grip tightened on her paw. She was quiet again, processing, her ears shifting between flat and forward like she couldn't settle on an emotion.
"Since I was seven." Mira couldn't meet her eyes anymore, the words tumbling out faster now, anxious to fill the silence. "After Mama died, he was so sad, and I wanted to help him feel better, and I know how it sounds, I know what people would think, but it wasn't... he didn't *
make* me. I wanted to help and then I started wanting it for me too and—"
Juniper leaned forward and silenced her with a kiss. Deep, demanding, present. Wet cheeks pressed against her as Juniper pulled back and then nuzzled Mira's own.
She knew about Mira's mother. Had seen the photos on the mantle, the way Mira went quiet sometimes when other kids complained about their moms.
"So it started because you loved him," Juniper said softly. "And he was sad. And you wanted to help."
"Yeah." Mira's voice caught, surprised by the gentleness. "That's... yeah."
Silence stretched between them. Bear had settled in the corner, licking himself, uninterested in the emotional drama.
Then Juniper pulled back. Not far. Just enough. Her paw slipped out of Mira's and found her own ears, tugging them both down to one side, and she looked away. Down at the sheets. At nothing.
She went very still.
"Juni?" Mira's voice came out small and far away.
Nothing. Juniper's tail went down, her nose twitched, but no words came. She tugged her ears lower, the way she did when she was overwhelmed, when the feelings got too big for her body to hold.
*
This is it.* Mira's chest went cold. *
This is the moment her face changes.*
The moment she'd look back across everything they'd shared, every sleepover, every touch, every whispered secret, and realize how much Mira had been holding back. Their first kiss on a tree branch behind her house, Juniper tasting like lemonade, giving Mira her *
whole self* while Mira kept the biggest piece of her own life hidden. *
I gave you everything and you couldn't even tell me the truth.*
Because it was true. Every time Juniper had confided in her, every time she'd whispered something vulnerable in the dark, Mira had listened with a secret lodged in her throat. The confidence, the knowledge, the way she knew exactly where to touch... Juniper thought Mira was brave. Really she was just practiced and trained. And she'd let her best friend believe otherwise for weeks.
*
Was any of it real?* That was the question Mira couldn't have survived hearing.
*
Juni is the most real thing I have, right next to Daddy.* But... *
right next to Daddy...* was a lot for anyone. Too much, really.
"Juni... Please?"
Juniper's nose twitched again and she turned her head a little. Her eyes drifted to Bear, tracing the length of him, the thick sheath, the heavy body. Then down to her own lap, to the soreness still throbbing between her legs. Her foot thumped once against the mattress, that involuntary rabbit tic as her mind drifted a moment. Her eyes blazed and her ears set forward, all attention on Mira.
"So if I wanted to be ready," she said slowly, blue eyes glittering like sapphire, still wet but unblinking, "really ready, for Bear... I'd need someone to stretch me. Like your dad stretched you."
"Yeah. Someone patient. Someone who can go slow. Someone who—"
"Could *
he* do it?"
Mira's heart stopped.
"What?"
"Your dad." Juniper's ears were pink, but her voice was steady. "He already knows how. He taught you. Could he... could he teach me too?"
"Juni, I don't—that's not—"
"You said he loves you. You said it wasn't scary or bad." Juniper took her paw, squeezed. "I trust you, Mira. And if you trust him... then I trust him too."
Mira didn't know what to say.
But Juniper wasn't looking at her like that. Juniper was looking at her with clear, wet, tear-bright eyes and asking to be *
included.*
"I'd have to ask him," she said finally. "It's not just my decision."
"I know." Juniper's paw stayed in hers. "But you'll ask? Please?"
"I'll ask."

They cleaned up slowly, or tried to. Juniper's entrance kept dripping Bear's watery precum no matter how many tissues they used, her small body not built to hold that much. She definitely wasn't torn or injured, thankfully, Mira double checked. But she'd been stretched hard and fast, and her body was still recovering.
"I'm still leaking," Juniper said, embarrassed. "It won't stop."
"It takes a while." Mira found her one of her old t-shirts, blue like her eyes, nearly long enough to be a dress on the rabbit's small frame. "Here. We need to go talk to him... I promised if anything happened I would anyway."
Juniper's ears flattened. "Like this? I smell like... like *
dog.*"
"He knows what Bear smells like." Mira pulled on a shirt of her own, nothing underneath. "And he's seen you with cum on your face before, remember? The 'spilled milk'?"
Juniper flushed but nodded. Bear was still restless in the corner, still wanting, but that would have to wait.
"Should I go home?" Juniper asked. "Or..."
"Stay." Mira threw on a long green shirt and took her hand. "Let me explain why I told you about him. Then we'll ask together."
———————
They went downstairs together, bare legs and long shirts, Juniper walking carefully with that slight wobble of someone still feeling stretched open. Dad was in the kitchen, making sandwiches, perfectly normal.
His nose twitched before he even turned around.
Mira saw the moment he caught it: Bear's musk, Juniper's arousal, the unmistakable scent of sex that clung to them both. When he turned, his expression was carefully neutral, but she knew her father. Knew the way his eyes moved over them, taking in Juniper's tear-streaked fur, the way she was walking, the t-shirt that didn't quite hide the slick still trailing down her inner thigh.
He'd seen this before. Had watched Juniper with Bear's cum on her face that first morning and said nothing. Had given them space, closed doors, cover noise. She knew her father's quiet permissions. But something was different now, and she could see him reading it.
"Hungry?" His voice was even. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong." Smaller than she meant. "Daddy, can we... can we talk? All three of us?"
Dad set down the knife. His eyes moved from Mira to Juniper, lingering for just a moment on the rabbit's bare thighs, the visible evidence of what had happened upstairs. Then back to Mira's face, reading her.
"Of course," he said carefully. "Living room."
Mira sat in the middle of the couch, Juniper pressed against her side. The bunny shifted uncomfortably; Mira could feel her tensing every time more of Bear's pre leaked out of her, soaking into the fabric beneath her. Dad took the armchair across from them, close enough that Mira could see his nostrils flare slightly, taking in everything the air told him.
Bear padded in and settled at his feet. Dad's hand found the dog's head automatically, scratching behind his ears, and his ears went still, that deliberate, controlled stillness. He knew what Bear had just been doing. Could probably smell his dog's cum inside the rabbit sitting across from him.
"Juniper knows," Mira said. "About you and me. About what you taught me."
Dad went very still. His eyes found Juniper's.
"I had to tell her." Mira pushed forward before he could react. "Bear was too much, Daddy. He pushed in too fast and she couldn't stop him and she needed to understand *
why* I could take him and she couldn't. Why fingers and toys aren't enough."
Understanding dawned in his expression, and underneath it, something else. His ears flattened, just slightly, the way they did when he was working to stay controlled.
"I'm not going to tell anyone." Juniper's voice was steady despite her nerves, despite the cum still leaking out of her onto his couch. "Sacred pact. I promised."
Dad exhaled slowly. Some of the tension left his shoulders, not all, but enough. His eyes moved to Juniper, softer now. Concern, maybe. This small rabbit who'd just been overwhelmed by his dog, who was sitting here leaking and embarrassed and trusting him with everything.
"Are you okay?" he asked her quietly. "Bear can be... a lot. Even for someone prepared."
Juniper nodded, surprised by the gentleness. "I'm okay. It was just too much too fast. But I liked it before it got scary." She hesitated. "That's actually... there's something else I wanted to ask."
Mira looked at Juniper. Juniper looked back, then squared her small shoulders.
"I want what Mira has," she said. "I want to be stretched. Prepared. So I can take Bear properly." Her ears were flat against her head, but she didn't look away from his amber eyes. "I want you to teach me. Like you taught her."
The silence stretched.
Dad's gaze dropped, just for a moment, to where the t-shirt had ridden up on Juniper's thigh, to the glistening trail of Bear's cum visible against her cream fur. When his eyes came back up, his ears had gone very still. She caught the way his tail gave one slow, controlled sweep behind the chair.
He looked at Mira. *
Is this what you want?* his eyes asked. *
Are you okay with this?*
But there was something else in that look too. Something hungry that he was working to control. Mira had seen that look before, when he watched Bear mount her, when he'd slide into her right after, mixing his cum with the dog's. Her father was kind, and careful, and protective. But beneath his careful tenderness was a primal *
hunger*, and right now that hunger was betraying his expression the way his eyes lingered and nostrils flared drinking in the room.
Mira nodded. Just once.
Dad leaned back in his chair, but the casual posture didn't hide the way his body had tensed. He studied Juniper for a long moment, the rabbit holding his gaze, trembling but determined, Bear's pre-seed still dripping out of her small body.
"That's not a small thing," he said finally. His voice was steady, measured, the voice of a father, not the voice of a man imagining what she would feel like stretched around his fingers. "Do you understand what it would involve?"
"Mira explained. Fingers first. Careful and slow. Then more." Juniper's paws tightened on Mira's. "Bear was a lot, I liked it at first, I *
really* liked it, but it got too big too fast. I think if someone taught me properly, I could like the whole thing."
"Your parents—"
"Don't know. Won't know." Juniper's voice was fierce. "This is mine. My choice. My secret."
Dad was quiet for another long moment. His hand had stilled on Bear's head. Mira watched him wrestle with it, the protective instinct warring with something older, darker, the same thing that had made him grind against her when she was seven, the same thing that let him watch his daughter get knotted and find it beautiful.
Then he looked at Mira again.
"Cub? What do you think?"
"I think..." Mira swallowed. "I think she's my best friend. And I want to share this with her. All of it."
*
All of it.* The words hung between them, meaning more than Juniper probably understood.
Dad's ears eased forward, the careful control softening, his shoulders loosening, tail settling. He stood, crossed to the couch, knelt in front of them both. This close, Mira could see the slight flush beneath his fur, could smell the edge of arousal he was keeping tamped down.
"Juniper." His voice was gentle now, but there was a roughness underneath. "If we do this, it has to be at your pace. Your comfort. If anything ever feels wrong, or scary, or like too much, you tell me. Immediately. No questions asked. Understood?"
Juniper nodded, ears perking slightly.
"And it stays between us. All of it. Forever."
"Sacred pact," Juniper whispered.
Dad smiled, small, warm, but with heat behind it now that Mira could recognize. He reached out, touched Juniper's cheek, and Mira saw the way his fingers lingered, the way he was already learning the shape of her.
"Okay." His voice had dropped, just slightly. "We'll start slow. See how you feel. But not today; today's been a lot already."
Juniper's whole body relaxed. "Thank you, Mr. Blackthorn."
"Silas." His hand dropped reluctantly, Mira thought. "If we're going to do this... you can call me Silas."
———————
Later that night, after Juniper had gone home, hugging Mira extra tight at the door with the training toy tucked into her backpack and a whispered *
"Practice every night,"* Dad found Mira curled on her bed, processing everything.
"That was unexpected," he said, settling beside her.
"I didn't plan it. She just... asked." Mira pressed close to him. "Are you mad?"
"No." His arm came around her. "Surprised. But not mad." He was quiet for a moment. "She's brave, your friend. Asking for what she wants like that."
"She's amazing." Mira's voice was soft. "I really love her, Daddy. Not like I love you. Different. But still love."
"I know." He kissed the top of her head. "I can see it when you look at her."
"Is it okay? To love you both?"
"You're not losing me by loving her. Love can be infinite, cub. As long as it's honest." Then his voice dropped, softer, intimate. "You're *
my mate*, Mira. I'm *
yours*. Loving her doesn't change that. Nothing changes that."
She melted into him. *
His mate.* Juniper was soft and sweet and something new to explore, but Daddy's arms, Daddy's voice, the cedar-and-musk warmth of his chest against her cheek. Nothing else came close.
"I don't want anyone else," she whispered. "Not like that as a *
mate*. Just you." She pressed closer.
"Good, cub. There's love and there's *
breeding,* and I don't want to share *
that.* Juniper can't breed you. She's sweet for you."
"*
Same.*" Mira's whisper went fierce. "I took Mama's place for both of us, Daddy. In the tough years, I made them easier for us... that's *
my* place now." She softened, just a little. "We can share Juniper though. She's mine and I want her to be yours too."
They lay there for a while, just breathing together. "Daddy, can we..."
He smiled, then spooning close, his chest warm against her back. His hand found her hip, steadying her.
"Baby, it's been a long day, let's go to sleep."
She answered by lifting her tail, pressing back against him. She was already wet, had been since he'd called her his mate, and when he slid into her, slow and sure, they both exhaled at the same time.
No urgency. No desperation. Just the familiar stretch of him filling her, the warmth spreading through her belly as he settled deep. His arm wrapped around her middle, protective, holding her close.
"That's my girl."
She felt his knot nestled at her entrance, *
there.* Patient. She rocked back against him, small movements, letting her body open at its own pace—her wetness welcoming him deeper with each slow roll of her hips. When it reached the base, a moment's pressure, she was so wet from the day, they both shuddered—that familiar tug of connection, her walls closing around the swell, locking them together.
"Daddy..." She reached back, found his hand, laced their fingers together over her belly.
"I know." His lips brushed her ear. "I've got you."
The knot pulsed inside her. Gentle. The first warm spurt of him filling her, then another, slow and steady. Not the frantic spurts of urgent breeding, just the quiet pulse of connection, his heartbeat throbbing inside her, his seed pooling deep where it belonged.
Her cheeks flushed with warmth. His did too; she could feel it against the back of her neck. This felt shy, even after everything. The softness of it. The way he held her like she was precious.
"I love you," she whispered.
"I love you too, cub." His arms tightened. "Always."
They stayed like that as the room grew dark, tied together, his knot pulsing gently. Bear snored at the foot of the bed. And Mira drifted toward sleep with her father's heartbeat thudding against her spine, steady as a promise he'd never needed to make.
