sleepy – post 356
I have two kids that don’t sleep the best… especially the youngest. He wakes up at around 11 pm each night. Every night. I couldn’t tell you the last time I slept though the whole night with no interruptions. It been at least 2 years… probably more. On top of that, I’m staying up late to get my son painting done so I’m crazy tiered during the day. I couldn’t tell you what I had for supper the night before on most days.
Which got me thinking… I think I’ve only stayed up all night about 2 or 3 times in my whole life. They where during high school and I was playing games. I never once stayed up all night during college, but most of my fellow students did. One girl stayed up for 3 days straight trying to get work done. She was a zombie on the third day and didn’t make much sense when she talked.
What’s the most you’ve ever gone with out sleep?

I am a bit of an insomniac, but the longest I stayed awake was probably when I was in boot camp. We were kept awake for 3 days. It was one of the shock treatments used to test new recruits resolve. Sleepiness would come and go in waves. One moment I felt I would collapse any second, the next I was over it and doing fine.

Oh man, there was this one time when I stayed up for like a week when I was a wee child. I had seen this episode of ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark’ and it truly scared me to the point where I would not sleep, or even go anywhere in the dark. Eventually I blacked out in school and they called my parents in and took me home. I slept for 30 some hours, or so I’m told.
