Scary Movies

I don’t care for them.  I know the Halloween season is the time to take in a good fright, but I’ve never been one for them.  I know others that just love them.  I just do see the draw to be honest.  Have seen some.  The first one I ever saw was Alien.  I know it’s not a scary flick.  It’s more of a sci-fi thriller, but it had the tense moments and gory scenes that put it in that sort of genera for me.  Later in to my teen years, I had to watch Nightmare on Elm st and Halloween for film studies class.  I didn’t really find them overly scary, but they where way past their prime when I finally watched them.  Oh, and I took in The Ring when it was in theaters too.  I wanted to see that because I really liked the concept and yeah… it scared me.  The difference between those three and Aliens, is that I eventually learned to love the Aliens series.  They’re probably some of my favorite movies.  With that being said, you still wouldn’t catch me watching slasher or horror movies today.  I get scared enough watching The Walking Dead.

Do you enjoy scary/horror movies?  What’s your favorite one?

    My Halloween movie list:

    Frankenstein (1931)(natch!)

    Dracula

    Phantom of the Paradise

    Return of the Living Dead

The Handmaid’s Tale (not a monster movie, but that stuff WILL scare the crap out of you simply because it COULD happen!)

I’m just finished with those mask-wearing-psycho-kills-naked-teenagers movies. They got to be cliched fast.
    My favorite scary movies:
    ‘John Carpenter’s The Thing’

‘The Creeping Flesh’ with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid!

‘Abbott And Costello Meet Frankenstein’ Not a ‘scary’ film, but I like it for the laughs.

‘The Exorcist’ Still pretty freaky after all these years.

around halloween i dont watch scary movies, i watch classic kids halloween movies. you know, charlie brown, alvin and the chipmunks, the cartoon version of sleepy hallow that disney did one time, things like that. i’m not a fan of horror movies, not because they’re scary but because they’re so predictable. i enjoy the Alien movies, the Predator movies, and all those other scifi movies that are somehow considered horror but thats because they actual have a plot line and the bad guy can actually be killed. the only actually horror film i enjoyed was Clover Field. and it was sort of sci fi alien type genre too. oh, and i liked the resident evil movies but i wouldnt say those are horror either.
