Porn Everywhere

I was reading Kotaku the other day, like I so often do, and I read an article on how the Xbox 360 is getting Internet Explorer.  With that, you’ll be able stream free porn straight to your game console.  Seriously?  I would have loved it if I could have gotten free porn on my game system back in the day!  It’s crazy how available porn is now.  You can get it on your tv, your computer, your phone, your game console, your portable game console, your personal music device.  Pretty much anything with a screen can have porn on it…  I remember being young and sneaking down the Penthouse magazines in the local convenient store to see some vagina’s, or being lucky and catching the scrambled adult channel go free for a weekend.  Heck, I resorted to drawing my own porn!  I would have loved having porn as on hand as it is now.

Horny teenagers don’t know how good they have it.

I, too, am amazed at, and somewhat thankful for, the availability of porn these days. As a kid, I had to hide all of the porn that I had (which was just a few pages torn from a shared magazine). My usual hiding spot was buried under the Lego bricks in the Lego bin (since I knew my parents wouldn’t ever look there).

I was amazed one day when I went over to a friend’s (who was well under 18 at the time) house and found a stack of Playboys right next to his bed. Apparently his parents had no problem with a teen boy looking at nude ladies and got him a subscription. Mind was blown. I was totally jealous.

Not sure if I would do that for my kids, but, as you’ve pointed out, it really is a moot point in this day and age. All I would need to do is to switch off the kid-friendly-filter and the internet is better than any Playboy. Though, I might want to keep them from some more extreme content…. Will have to ponder more on this subject.

P.S. I wasn’t able to comment on you ‘lost flash-drive’ post when you put it up, but had the following suggestion: you might want to encrypt the drive or at least the more ‘questionable’ data. I think you can just make an encrypted disk image and put all of the secret stuff in that. That way, even if you really lose your drive, nobody will be able to access you private material. Just a thought.

Its hard to believe there was a time when, if you wanted to see a pornographic movie, you had to go to a theater with other people. Its even harder to believe that there are still places like that.

I remember the days of porno magazines. My friends and I discovered a stash at one of our “forts”. It was near a rural parking stop, by the road. We also had a friend who had memorized tons of dirty jokes, and he would tell them to all of us during the bus rides home. That was fun.

I also remember dreaming about “what if” there was a game console that could play both Super Nintendo AND Genesis games. How awesome that would be!
Nowadays I have a hacked PSP, a portable game system that among other things, can emulate 6 different game systems! I have to remind myself just how amazing that really is. Just the idea of it would have completely blown my mind 20 years ago.
(My god, has it really been that long??)
