Roller Coasters

I can’t stand’em.  I know lots of people that do but I just can’t take them.  I feel all kinds of nauseous afterwards and they scare the crap out of me (actually, that’s pretty much all canival type rides).  Oh sure, they look really cool, I see people having lots of fun on them and to be honest, I wish I did like them… but I just can’t make it happen.  From time to time I’ll get brave and try one out only to remember “oh yeah, that’s why I don’t like them”.  I’ve even tried some large water slides.  Nope, can’t do those ether.  I guess it doesn’t help that I hate swimming, so really it’s my own damn fault right there.  I’ve had friends tell me that it’s okay and I should just keep riding them until I’m use to it.  Ugh… I think it’s the adrenalin rush that I get… or just plain fear.  The only roller coaster I can do is Thunder Run at Canada’s Wonderland.  It goes in the mountain and it’s pretty fun and short.  Most of the people I know won’t go on it though because it’s pretty tame.  Well, screw those guys!  I guess I just prefer my roller coasters in tycoon form.

Do you like roller coasters or try and pressure your non coaster friends to ride them?

I love roller coasters! And those ‘lift-off’ rides that just hurl you into the air.
There is something… freeing about being in the air. It’s hard to describe.

I, too, love roller coasters. In fact, i have a vague memory of mentioning on this blog that thrill-rides might be an impetus to my having children. My wife loves them (they get her hot). I love them even more, for that alone.

You might try alpine-coasters. They are like the big ones, but with no big ups-and-downs (its all down on a slight grade). Plus, you get to control the descent (you have a manual brake).

Also, you don’t like (you “hate”) swimming?! I’d have thought for sure (given your liking of cruises) that you’d enjoy swimming.

Heck no. I’ve always been afraid of water and drowning. I’m better now then I used to be, but yeah… water sucks.
