Laser Eyes
I wear glasses. I’m very happy with them. I think I look quite nice in the ones I have and I wouldn’t do anything to change that. Like have corrective laser eye surgery. I know three people out of my collection of friends that have had the procedure done. One of them I used to work with and he gave everyone in the studio the low down on what happens during the surgery. You’re not put under. It’s not covered under any health plan. They cut the top layer of your eyeball open like a soup can and correct the lens in your eye with a laser and then close the eyeball back up and it heals it’s self. Oh, and if any thing goes wrong, they can’t fix it. So you basically just paid someone to screw with your eyes because there are no refunds. He had it done and loves it. Totally worth the money he said. The other two people I know did not have the same results.
One now has (as I understand it) one blurry vision eye. One is perfect and the other is out of focus permanently. I heard that she was told hat they might be able to correct that, but I never heard the result. It might still be that way. The other story is where the eyeball lid didn’t heal properly back on to the eye. Her eye was constantly watering and she couldn’t really see out if it. This was recently (last week) and I guess she has to go back in next week to see what can be done about that.
God grief, I would never have this done to my eyes. No way! Forget it! Stay the hell away from my eyes! These are the only ones I have and I will not be having mess with them. It also makes me kind of sad when I hear that people hate their glasses so much. I’ve had them since I was 8 and I’m totally fine with them. On top of that, I think that girls are super cute with glasses. Thumbs up for geeky girls with glasses! Hmmm… I just realized that I don’t have any drawing of girls with glasses…
Do you wear glasses and if you do would you have this done to your eyes?

I don’t think anyone could pay me to get that done. I wear glasses and have since I was in middle school and they really aren’t that bad.
Besides if one really hates glasses, why not get contacts? It takes about 2 weeks to get used to them, but once you do they are so easy to wear and manage.
And yes, girls in glasses are cute!

Agreed, I don’t want anyone to mess around with my eyes. I don’t even want to use contact lenses; the very thought of touching my eyes makes me twitch.
I’ve had glasses for about five years now, and I absolutely love it! I think my face really looks better with glasses on, and before I got glasses I even contemplated getting glasses anyway just because of the looks.
And yes, girls look great in glasses. It’s like an instant +1 to Charisma. ^^

I have had glasses since I was crawling, I love them and hate them. previously due to a terrible prescription there was no contact lens choice for me. (I think there is now. expensive but yeah.. yay astigmatism)
I USED to want lasik. bad. bad bad. THEN I actually looked into it. OMG no. I already have bad night vision and halos at times around lights. What I do want is implantable contact lenses as that is reversible as long as you don’t get a infection of the eye, and they don’t shave off your natural lens! (I was told I would be a good candidate, but reading told me no, and that it would likely revert back after 10 years. not worth it)
I would like the implants because they are nicer to the eye, and then if I had to wear glasses I’d have a much lighter set too. That and it would be nice to actually SEE in the shower.. etc. but I wouldn’t take lasik. Not even if it was offered free.
OH and I think I look better with glasses, I have a lazy eye that seems slightly undersized too so glasses hide the minute size difference.

I was very fortunate to not need glasses, since I am the only person in my biological family that does not wear them at all (shocking, considering how much abuse they get). However, if I did need them, I would avoid l LASIK like the plague (maybe even more so). There is always a risk of having problems after surgery; most are worth the risk, but some are absolutely unacceptable. Death or loss/impairment one’s senses is never a good bet for an unnecessary surgery (necessary surgery is a different matter). I’d take the inconvenience of glasses/contacts every time before I’d risk worsening my sight. Plus, glasses can be quite a fashionable/sexy addition to a person’s look (I love a girl in glasses). I know this is a petty thought, but there are times when I think that glasses would really set off a look. Unfortunately, I’d feel like (be?) a total ass for wearing (merely as fashion) something that others require for sight.

I’ve worn glasses since I was 10 and I refuse to get laser surgery. I’ve also worked in an optometry office and know how the right pair of glasses can be very flattering.

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was a kid.
I’ve thought about contacts, but I didn’t like the idea of have to constantly take them off and put them on.
I thought about laser surgery until I heard on the radio, in one of the commercials, that one of the side effects is blindness.
No thank you. I’ll stick with my glasses.
That’s the main reason I don’t try these drugs advertised on TV. The side effects are worse than the ailment.

The eyes are something that is hard to fix if things go wrong. And having experienced temporary blindness in my life, once was enough it freaked me out real bad. Besides if something went wrong the world would be a poorer place deprived of your art. I think blindness or impaired vision is to high a price to pay. Please take care of your sight for all you enjoy seeing and for all you share with others. And before I step off my soapbox, Thank you for all you have shared art, humour, and thoughts.

Why thank you very much. I do enjoy sharing my art and thoughts with you all. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my posts and such. ^_^

One thing about wearing glasses is having some protection against flying things. I once opened a box that had the top flaps held shut by those big copper staples. One of the staples, rather than simply parting ways with one flap and hanging on the other, shot up and pinged me right in the eye–or would have, if I hadn’t been wearing glasses. There was a ding in the lens directly in front the pupil. Yikes!
I also like having glasses on when riding my bike, as they break the breeze coming at my eyes.
Sure, there are some disadvantages. But I don’t mind wearing glasses at all, and wouldn’t get laser eye surgery under any circumstances anyway. I won’t even consider contacts.
