Pokemon
My son as of late has gotten in to Pokemon. He watched an episode last week and was totally hooked. Even his older sister watches it with him. I never watched the cartoon back when the original was on. I was in college though so that might have something to do with it. I did play the games though. Own Pokemon Blue for GameBoy and Silver for GameBoy. I played the crap out of Blue and even caught all the Pokemon for the thing. I slowed down on Silver though. I felt like I had just played this game and so the drive for catching everything was gone. I haven’t played another one since.
Now that my kids have taken an interest in the current generation of Pokemon, I find myself looking at the show kind of sideways. So, there’s this trainer that goes around and captures animals, trains them to fight against other animals and trainers. Oh, and he/she keeps them them in a small animal home when they’re not fighting. I’m pretty sure you can get arrested for that sort of thing. ^_^ I’m not about to stop them from watching the show. Heck, I watch the show with them and I enjoy it too. I just think it’s funny that 13 years and 2 kids later I look a Pokemon now and think… really?
Where you ever in to Pokemon back in the day? Did you catch them all?

Man when Red and Blue came out I was a GD Pokemon Master! All of the kids at my school had a Gameboy and we all had a connector cable. During lunch and the homeroom period afterwards we would all link up and battle it out! We even held our own little Pokemon League. lol we never posted anything or had ‘official battles’ but everyone knew who the best were and respected them. I happened to be number 5 in our school. (to this day I still say the 1-4 dudes cheated) Though when Gold and Silver hit, the spark was gone for me, and I moved on to bigger and better things.
But yeah I was into it. Never got into the cartoon though. Also, the Pokemon Stadium game for the N64 was a blast! I recommend it if you haven’t played it.

I own all the original games that were released in america for game boy, and quite a few of the later generation ones. I enjoyed the original few seasons of the show, but i cannot stand the newer stuff. and no, i never caught them all.

I was really into the original TV show during high school.
But I didn’t get into most of the games because they’re so repetitive and heavy on level-grinding.
My favorite pokemon game was actually the “Pokemon Trading Card Game” for the original gameboy.
It has a much faster pace and deeper strategy than the regular pokemon games.
I very highly recommend it.

I never played the card game, but by that point I’d already walked away from Magic: The Gathering and wasn’t looking to get in to another card game. I did hear it was pretty good though.
