Crust

Why don’t kids eat bread crust?  It’s such a waste of food since kids never eat to the edge.  They’ll leave a good inch of bread and crust on their plates.  If you ate any closer you might accidentally eat some of it.

As a kid I always ate the bread crust.  I never thought to have a reason not to.  I even ate the heels of the loaf!  My kids eat crust… sometimes.  They’ll eat the crust of my homemade bread with no question, but they resist eating the crust off the store bread.  It drives me NUTS!  I also refuse to cut off the crust because I feel like I’m letting them win and thus they will never grow up and eat it like a normal person.

The worst I ever saw was my nephew, who NEVER eats crust of anything.  We had dinner rolls one day with our lunch and I thought “HA!  Now you’ll have to eat the crust if you want to eat the roll! HAHAHAH!!!”  After he was done I noticed that he ripped it in half and ate all the bread from the inside and left the crust shell.  WTF!? o_O  Grrrrr!!!!

Where you a kid that didn’t eat bread crust?  Are you as an adult a non crust eater?  If so you deserve a slap.

I dunno, I don’t like the crust on store bread, either, but I only leave it when I’ve toasted it. There’s geese and ducks around here to feed it to anyway, plus a bunch of wild plants and bugs that’ll eat the stuff too.

I don’t care much for the heels of the loaf. It’s just a bit too crusty for me. But outside of that, I always eat my crust – just last, typically. Whenever I have a sandwich, I’ll tear off the top arc part, and eat the bottom half, down to the bottom crust. I then eat the bottom crust, and finally the top part I tore off (assuming someone else hasn’t eaten it)

As for when I was a kid, it was my sister that never ate her crust. In fact, when she finished eating, she’d give me her crust and I would eat it.

Aw dude, the crust is awesome! The heels of bread were and are always the first pieces to go out of a loaf. Pizza, rolls, toast, it makes no difference. I’m especially partial to pizza crust, because when you are done with the pizza, it turns into a bread stick for dipping in ranch or garlic butter…yum!
It boggles my mind to see people not eat their pizza crust. I have a roommate who will not for the life of him eat his pizza crusts. Grrr!! For crying our loud, we’re adults now I tell them, EAT YOUR CRUSTS!!
