joe vs the toilet – post 125
So remember back in post 118 where I was venting about how the toilet in my basement wouldn’t come up because who ever put it on didn’t use brass nuts and bolts and so I had a big rusted mess and a crapper that wasn’t going any where?
Yeah, well I finally got it up. I had to smash the base to do it. Stoopid rusty bolts… So anyway, I with the old toilet up I was able to start installing the new one. Uh oh… new problem. The new one is longer then the old one and hits the wall behind the toilet. Okay, well the wall behind it is actually built out by previous owners so the old bowl wouldn’t have a huge gap between the tank and the wall… or so I thought. I go a head and start to remove that small piece of built out wall and see that it also hides a random pipe. Wonderful. At least the pipe is off to the side and I should be able to hide it again and still have everything work out.
This is just my luck too. Any small simple project that I or my wife try to take on usually becomes a large one though no fault of our own. We’re well aware of this trend in our lives. Nothing is ever easy. Oh well, at least I’ll learn a lot from this project.
Stay tuned to hear the rest of this tale in a later post. I might even put up a pic of the bathroom once it’s done.
Wish me luck.
