please do not touch the artist – post 124

Okay so with AnthroCon in full swing I thought I’d share with you my first time at AC.  It was only one of two cons I’ve ever been too.

So back in 2002, I think it was, I decided to go to this thing called AnthroCon.  I caught a train to Brockville Ontario and met up with some friends and we all drove down to Philly.  Everything went okay during the drive there… the long ass drive… 9 hours I think… in the snow… backwards…  anyway.  We get to the hotel and we’re standing in the lobby and some greasy looking dude walks by and meows at me and scratches/tickles my back… o_o

What the hell dude…

Don’t freak’n touch me…

I’d only been to my first AnthroCon for 10 min and someone was mess’n with me.  I’d never wanted to yell at someone so bad in my life and at the same time I was shocked as to what just happened.  Freak’n weird man.

So anyway, I met some artists and hung out with gNAW a lot.  Sat is artist alley.  Sold some of my art, but to be honest… the greasy, Ron Jeremy looking, meow guy haunted me.  I passed him in the halls and saw him wandering about and when I did I turned and did something short of a run in the other direction.

The con was okay.  Lots of partying going on… too bad I’m not a party guy.  Never have been so I felt kind of out of place there.  I’m more of a quiet get together with friends kind of person.

So that’s really my fist con experience.  Something to remember but for the wrong reasons.  I did want to make a shirt for any future cons that said “Please do not touch the artist”

Anyone reading this at the con right now?  Is that meow guy still lurking the halls looking for victims.

~shudder…

Well all the same I hope that people are having fun there.  Let me know if I missed out on anything.
