My towel is too small
Ta dah! What’s this you ask? Why just some random pixels. Actually, this here is represents what I do for a career. No, not sexy pictures (well, that too I guess). I push pixels and I’ve been doing so for about 10 years. Oh sure, I can paint and illustrate too, but my true love is old school graphics.  I’ve never done a pixel illustration for my blog, so I thought it might be fun to try it out. I think my random squirrel came out pretty adorable. I might just have to try others too. I think Ping and Pong would look so cute like this.
One thing that I don’t have though is a pixel blog/site. I know there are other pixel artists that have galleries (Paul Robertson, Kenneth Fejer), but I never felt compelled to so the same and reach pixel fame on the internet. All my pixels can only been seen in the games I’ve made. Oh, and just so everyone knows, this image here is scaled up 200% so you can see it better. Here it is at it’s original size.

Quite cute! Any chance you’ll be making further pixel works for the blog?

Thanks! I think I might just do that. ^_^

0.0 There is not a word in the English lexicon that describes how AWESOME this is!! Bravo Joe!
Now, is making pixel art harder than your other works? I would love to see more of this!

Not for me. After almost a decade of pixel work under my belt I can crank this stuff out with ease. When I worked at Gameloft some people would call me “the workhorse”.

heeeh This is great! 😀 Now I’d be curious what games you worked on and thus if I’ve seen some of your er.. professional work.

Oh, I’m sure you have. I might have even made a post about one or two in the past. ^_^

This is adorable. I’m always impressed by pixel artists. How you guys are able to capture complex character expressions in the medium is amazing to me.

it’s lots of fun and a good challenge. You have to decide which details you want to focus on other wise it can get very complex and busy.

I’m always in love with your cute random squirrel.
Your pixel art is very efficient.
And Paul Robertson is like a god for me.

Paul Robertson is totally awesome! Here’s an interesting sort of story. I used to work at Gameloft and while I was there I almost defected to Ubisoft’s DS department with my friends. If I had I probably would have ended up working with Paul as he was brought over to Ubi Montreal to work on the Scott Pilgrim game. Alas I did not make the switch and now my friends are good buddies with Paul. Sigh… oh well. ^_^
I also love how Paul can pixel some boobs, penises or even spooge and not get shunned for it.

I’d love to see more stuff like this.

[…] I’d show off a little something I’ve been working on. So I made that Random pixel post a while back and it got me wanting to do more of it. So I started working on something a little […]
