I think I speak for many when I say that I'm both very grateful as well as very proud to be accepted here at PAL/TJA, and that the weight of a thousand worlds have been taken off the shoulders of not just myself, but of many, many other WWOEC members both newbies and veterans alike. We're all eternally grateful and we can't begin to describe just how thankful we are.
That being said, just because the chance that WWOEC can be restored doesn't mean that we'll abandon people here, nor do we think less of the sites, forums, or people running it. I think I speak for many that should WWOEC be restored, we'll still continue to make posts, stories, pictures, and what have you both here and at PAL as a showing of our eternal gratitude.
I hope that one day WWOEC is restored to its former glory, but if that does happen I will still make posts here and at PAL as a showing of my gratitude, and I think many members of WWOEC will as well. Who knows? Maybe we'll even pool some money together to make a comic based on one of our various writer's jams we've had over the years.
Yes, we're excited of the possibility that WWOEC may live again. But please, do not mistake our excitement for apathy. I am thankful beyond words for the forum here and at PAL and I can promise that many others are as well. I'll continue to post and socialize here, and I think others will as well.
In short...relax. We're still thankful, and if WWOEC should come back tomorrow we won't abandon you. And all WWOEC refugees? C'mon. Show a little more gratitude.

TJA and Pal are established.. we're not going anywhere, with enough resources.. but if the WWOEC community find a better place will be also cool, really... we just wanted to help, but we don't want to be treated like a whore. >_>
Right now the biggest group of the WWOEC core members are spread into two forums. Tja and Palcomix... The first thing to do is somehow to merge this group together again in one forum... Or maybe a complete new structure that palcomix or tja doing something like the wwoec with artist pages, a update section and the whole stuff... Fact is: We need a place where hobbist artists can build a new home. Posting art into a forum is good but for my taste too chaotic to find one specific picture without browsing through hundreds of pages. For my two cents I prefer more a own website where I can customize everything to my taste and likes. I'm sure Pal and Tja will find a good compromise.
Maybe it's a good chance to starting over to build something new.Last edited by FairyCosmo; 02-20-2016, 08:25 AM.

I also own a home server but hosting such a huge website like the WWOEC with all their artistpages and data.... well im not sure. Isn't it better to leave that huge task to an hosting company? The WWOEC was something special but it also stopped in evolution since the early 2000's. The webdesign was awfull the Forums- software was old so the server software was like php, mysql, no ssl and other components. This was the major flaw in this system what caused DDOS attacks and the instabillity of the whole contruct in technical way. The community could find a new home at TJA or the pal comix forum as well.. Just the question were the artists could host their stuff is still present...

I am not about to just up and leave even if Wwoec were to come back tomorrow. I like it here and very much appreciate the kind gesture.

From a professional rivalry-free point of view, I'd love my old page to pop back up even if it was just so I can copy down all the CSS and shit so rehosting it is easier. It's not just about which site is better, which community has more people, etc - I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to get some stuff off the old server.
I appreciate what he's trying to do, and honestly where else was he supposed to post it? WWOEC members are super old and set in their ways, if it wasn't posted in the one place WWOEC members have been known to migrate to, they'd almost surely have never seen it.

Just some things to think about

cm0002, it's awesome that you're eager and skilled enough to make another host for WWOEC. Truly. However, TJA & Palcomix (etc.) have an outstanding track record and lots of great people running things. Then, between the web hosting and the automated gallery system it's a huge step up already, and sadly underutilized for so long. Also, you mentioned elsewhere that it may only be an interim solution (which, being for free, I can't fault), and between costs vs. fundraising and TOS issues, that could leave the burden on you a lot longer than you want or sustain (even if through no fault of your own). I'd rather pay and make sure I know what I'm getting… especially after seeing TJA's fault-tolerance specifications.
Beyond that though, my biggest concern is that any new site would be WWOEC in name only. Even if Cobra still held the reigns I think it wouldn't really be the same. There would necessarily have to be some changes, and I'm not sure every member would go for them.
Therefore I've committed to engaging fully here. (At least one person knows exactly how committed. ) Here at TJA & Pal have so many new friends to meet and as members a golden opportunity to do things perhaps a little better, and I want to take full advantage of all that. Will there be growing pains? Sure, we're seeing them already, but with just a little patience it will all be worked out. Still, it's going to be great to easily see and comment on artwork and interact with lots of great people just like before — hopefully all of the WWOEC members included.

I am pretty much divided on that question... would love to get WWOEC back but I don't know if that would be the best and there are also these nice two places that welcomed all of us kindly and... well, nevermind...A Bicurious Guy Who Loves Girl-Girl Love

I fully agree with Fairy Slayer. There's no need to jump through hoops, though the notion is appreciated. Nothing good can come from necromancy so to speak, so unless Cobra himself decides to give it another go I see no purpose in trying to resurrect WWOEC. Especially since as mentioned, it could deviate in all the wrong ways and be but a husk of its former glory.
Consider that we were welcomed here, and take into account these important details:
- as far as content goes anything goes, just like it did on WWOEC
- The Man has extensive experience with these things and TJA is up and running for 20+ years
- the layout is similar to what we're used to and may be upgraded to the same version WWOEC used (and with a personal reassurance that simplicity will be upheld)
- many old users are already here and setting up shop
To me it seems like a pretty sweet deal. The familiarity of the site makes for an easy transition, the word is already out and basically everything needed is already in place. It seems like a much, much better option that flying blind and fretting if the next day neo-WWOEC goes belly up. It takes much effort, dedication and skill to manage a big website.
tl;dr I'm for staying here and making TJA our base proper. The gentle touch of violin strings
