$140 of $6500 Goal Reached |
Some of you may have noticed the donation box get added at the top right. As it sits I'm planning on trying to raise funds to move us on to more up-to-date hardware , we're on fairly solid poweredge servers at the moment, but there a number of years old and are only running a 500gb raid array. I'd like to move that to at least a 2TB array so I can basically make the Galleries more readily accessible to those wanting them, As well as keep the servers from bogging down during high load hours of the day. HOW EVER, I'm also looking to add more functionality to the site as it site. A few very nice vB5 plug-ins exist to expand the messaging systems, add in a live chat area, and enhance the forum substantially . Feel Free to check out some of them HERE , let me know if there are any you'd like over others, or feel free to direct me to other companies specializing in VB5 Add-ons, Sadly that's a bit limited at the moment. Also I know some of you are having issues. I'll be contacting VB if I can't figure them out, but a lot of what I'm seeing is VERY localized to one or two accounts. It'll be hard to narrow that down, But I'll do my best. If you know someone skilled in dealing with VB5 do get them in contact with me and I'll do my best to work with them.
As for where your donations go.. I want to be VERY Transparent with the money spent after it is donated. I'm not going to just go on spending spree's without first letting YOU the userbase know what it'll be spent on and ask if you agree with it. I'm sure there will not always be a perfect consensus , but trust that I've kept this site up for 21 years, and I have no intention of seeing it falter any time soon. Thanks again for your considerations and support. I'll be doing my best to get those of you looking for galleries set up ASAP , it's REALLY Best to get me on Skype more so than PM .. you can reach me at "CheetahJab" on skype and "CheetahTDC" on AIM if you hate skype LOL..
**Side note** The way we're set up with how the TJA/Pal Servers run.. ANY moves to a new machine will be done with VERY VERY little downtime. More than likely less than even a few minutes. We're set up VERY redundant, So we'd change the secondary machine to a new server, move the VM's over. Then Change the Primary Hardware Machine and then resplit the sites acordingly. We don't plan on having ANY downtime during these upgrades.
