  • Reputation question(s)

Someone gave me my first piece of rep recently. The "Latest Reputation Received" list in my User CP doesn't show the person's name, and under "Thread" it shows "N/A."

Is there a way to see who gave me the rep, or what it was for?

    Maybe it was Mysterion

At least on vBulletin 4, whether or not the giver's name shows up is set per user group (of the receiver). Apparently some communities prefer to leave it anonymous to encourage honest feedback while avoiding retaliation and rep-bombing, etc. (Administrators can review and edit all reputation points and comments if there's abuse.)

The N/A shows up when the post has been deleted, though if only "soft-deleted" then the administrator can still recover that info. (Once you hard-delete something though, that's that.)

In that case, I'm happy to be able to keep the rep. (IIRC, on WWOEC, you lost any rep associated with deleted posts.)

Nope, it was the same over there. It was your post count that would go down when housekeeping was done.

I guess we always have the option of "signing" the comment whenever we give rep to others.

            I always try to.
Every time an old person dies, a library burns down.

There's no shame in growing old. Some people don't get the chance.

It's a bit moot though: we new members don't have enough reputation to actually give reputation, hence the grey reptangles . Either we wait for long-time members to give us positive reputation or, depending on how it's configured, until we reach a certain post count.

So, as usual, may as well hit Reply whenever you have something nice to say and it won't derail the thread.

So did all reputation get nuked in the update process or am I still coming down from binge drinking?

You're not imagining it- seems it got disabled.

Reputation I don't believe is possible below a post count of 10 from what I can see, Once you get past 10 posts you'll be able to use the reputation system, keeps people from making alts and just spamming it.

I have 80+ posts and I don't have the option to give (or take) reputation, plus I can't view the comments people had given me before. There were no actual points because we new members didn't have "Reputation power." It seems that except for Cheetah, no one who is active these days can give people the reputation they'd need to be able to give actual reputation. ;)

In the grand scheme of things, no big.

Apparently to give positive rep you just click on the "Like" option on a post.. There is no way to give negative rep at the moment
