Peachy Kitty

Super Mario 3D world was announced today for the WiiU.  The whole Mario crew get to wear cat suits this time.  Sadly, they’re not as sexy as this little number.

Sorry, I’ve been away from the blog lately.  Life sometimes interjects.  Also, I’ve pretty much lost my extra doodle time in the morning.  That really sucks.  Ah well… I’ll still doodle, but they’ll be a little less frequent.  Sorry crew.

Wii U!

Last month I went out and bought a Wii U.  I’d been wanting one for a while now and when I noticed the ZombiU bundle, I figured now would be a great time.  I ended up getting Super Mario Bros U, ZombieU and NintendoLand, and so far I’m really enjoying my new toy.

I play NintendoLand the most right now.  It’s basically a collection of mini games based off of Nintendo series like F-Zero and Pikmin.  It’s way more fun then you’d think it might be.  It’s a lot of beating your own personal score but there is some adventure games like Metriod and Zelda, plus some great multi-player games like Mario Chase.  Mario U is as you’d think it would be and I’m fine with that.  I love platforming games and there nothing better then just sitting down and running Mario through some well designed levels.

I play ZombiU the least.  I want to play it more but I get stressed out from it.  It’s not the games fault, I just don’t play games like this much so it sort of scares me.  I get super tense when I see a zombie knowing that if it bites me, then it’s game over and I have to start again.  The progress I make is painfully slow as I search out every nook looking for more bullets and avoid dangerous situations.  I can only play in short spurts… because I’m a wuss.

Over all, yeah… I really, really like my WiiU.  I’m very glad I bought it.  I don’t really care about the social network Miiverse it has set up for me to post stuff to the rest of the world.  I just play it for the games.

Anyone else out there have a WiiU yet?

Do U Wii U?

So anyone out there pick up that new Nintendo watch-cha-call-it?  Wii U?  I would have loved to, but my cash flow won’t allow it .  Probably in the new year or maybe Santa will bring me one for Christmas.  That would be super swell.  I did get a chance to play it on one of their traveling trucks.  I got to play Super Mario U and The Wonderful 101.  Both where lots of fun.  I mean, Mario is always fun in my books.  Sure it’s the game with some game tweaks, but I don’t care.  Playing with the game pad was cool too.  I was able to put down blocks to help others out and stun enemies.

The Wonderful 101 was really awesome, it’s like Pikmin but with little super heroes.  You wander around and gather up regular citizens to be a part of your super hero crew and then you get to wail on enemy robots that are destroying the town.  I really liked it and will probably pick that one up once it becomes available.

I have to be honest.  My budget doesn’t allow for me to buy every system.  So while I’ve been very happy with my collection of Wii games, I did feel a bit left out seeing all the gorgeous games on the PS3 and 360.  The Wii U seems to fill that gap now with its current line up.  I’ll be very happy to play current versions of Assassins Creed III, Batman, Bayonetta and not some watered down version or just miss them entirely.  I know that Nintendo will be left behind again when Sony and Microsoft show the new PS4 and 720 (or what ever they’re going to call them), but for now I’m pretty happy.  Or at least I will be once I pick up the system.

Ninja Gaiden 3 for Wii U

This here is a trailer for Ninja Gaiden 3 which has been announced for the Wii U.  Now I haven’t played any of the current generations of Ninja Gaiden.  My memories of this series goes back to the NES days.  Heck, I still own the original cartridge (Yes… I’m that old), and I don’t remember anything this sexy in the game.

Trust me… I would remember that.  I think my interest in this game just peaked. ^_^

E3 Announcements

E3 might not be over just yet, but most of the big things have been announced through the main three conferences from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.  Did you get what you’re wishing for?  I think most people where waiting to see what Nintendo is bringing to the table with the Wii U.  I have to say that I’m interested, but still need more info on date, price and games.

They announced New Super Mario Bros. U which is very cool and sure to be lots of fun, but my favorite game announcement was Pikmin 3.  I loved Pikmin 2 on GameCube so I’m super jazzed about this new one.  They showed lots of third party titles like Aliens, Batman Arkham City, Assassins Creed III, Mass Effect 3, Ninja Gaiden 3 and such.  You know, the games the other two are getting but the Wii misses out on, so it’s nice to see them get ported over.  What I am nervous about is that the Wii U gets some sort of watered down or “special” version of those titles so you still don’t feel like you’re getting what others are.  It’ll also come with NetFlix, Hulu, Amazon and YouTube and it’ll also have this new Miiverse that will serve as some sort of meeting place/social network for your Mii and the games you’ll play.

That is all very cool, but what impressed me the most was seeing two games that won’t be on any Nintendo system.  Watch Dogs and The Last of Us.

I’ve never played games like this before.  I’m not even sure you could call them games at this point, more like interactive movies with some decision making in between story points.  Anyway, they look fantastic and they really make me think that I should invest in a PS3.  Uncharted is another series that I would want to dive into.  Don’t get me wrong.  I still love my Nintendo and they games they provide, but this type of “game” is starting to speak to me more and more.

Nintendo is also doing a mini 3DS conference tomorrow.  I wonder what they’ll show there.

Wii U Controller

In a prerecorded message, Nintendo showed off a secondary controller to it’s new Wii U, look familiar?  It’s interesting when you see Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft all follow each other in design and concepts.  People usually call foul and such, but I see it as the others acknowledging good ideas from the other.  I think that Nintendo is doing this so porting will be easier between the Wii U and the other consoles.  They must realize they’re missing out on some great titles by not having a proper controller.  Actually, now they have the new controller with the touch screen, this one and the standard Wii-mote for use on the Wii U.  I think they have all the bases covered now.
