Disney Art

One of my favorite things to do at Disney is check out all the awesome art.  I realize it’s all fan art, but it’s done so well and makes me smile.  I’m not too sure where in my house I would put these pieces of art, but they sure are great to look at.  Come check out some of my favorites from my trip.

This Is My Second Disney Vacation

So as many of you know, last month I took a vacation to Disney World.  This was the second time I’d ever been there and I just couldn’t wait to go back.  I was so excited to eat the food a see the sights again, plus we extended our trip this time to ten days!  It really is a wonderful place to visit.  I know it’s usually described as the most magical place on earth, and while I’ve never been to every other magical place on the planet, I can say Disney World is the most magical place I’ve ever been to.  I already miss it and can’t wait to go again. Sigh… until then, I’ll have to settle with the 3000 pictures I took.  I picked a bunch of them to share with you all, so lets click the link and get going. ^_^

Aladdin Sexiness

As we prepare for our Disney trip, we taken to watching some Disney movies.  This week we watched one of my favorites, Aladdin.  It’s such a fun movie, but I had forgotten some of the sexier parts of the film.  There’s this part when Genie is doing his first song and dance number and he creates these three belly dancers out of fire.

I mean… dang… that’s pretty hot.  I just love they’re exaggerated hips.  Super cute.

It’s Almost My Birthday

Holy crap!  I today I just realized I’m less than a month until my birthday (Feb 9th)!  Less than a month until I’m 36!  I find it strange to think that I’m getting close to 40.  I don’t feel my age at all.  I draw cartoons and play video games, which is a far cry from what my Dad was doing when he was my age.  One thing that will be super special this year is that we’ll be on our family vacation when it’s my birthday!  Woo!  Vacation birthday for me!  “Where are you going” you might be asking.  Well, I will be at Disney World when my birthday comes around this year.  I hope they give out cool birthday stuff. ^_^  I can’t wait, it’s going to so much fun.  I’ll take lots of photos to share when I get back.  We don’t leave for about two weeks though, but it’s getting closer every day.  Yay!

Have you been to an exotic location when your birthday rolled around?

Just Watched Wreck-It Ralph

I just got back in from watching Wreck-It Ralph and I must say I really enjoyed the movie.  Let me start off by saying, it’s not the best Disney film I’ve watched, but it’s totally a lot of fun.  Watching an animated feature about video games is something that is right up my alley.  I probably smiled the whole way through it to be honest.  Why?  Well, they did a lot of things right on a design level.  Like, I was very impressed with the details of how the characters in Ralph’s game moved about.  Being from a retro game, they moved all in key frames and popped from pose to pose.  Seeing that lets you know someone is a fan of retro gaming on the design team and said “the characters should/need to move like this”.  Fantastic!  Those are the details I love!  It brought a tear to my eye.  I also loved looking around the characters to see game references in the background that might have missed.

If I had to pick at things, for those that want a negative, it would be that the story seemed a bit sporadic at times and the characters weren’t as lovable as other Disney movies.  But by the end of the movie, I found that I really had a fondness for them.

Oh, and the opening animated short call Paperman was phenomenal.  I seriously loved it.  It’s beautiful blend of traditional animation and CG.  It almost makes me wish I went in the direction of animation for film rather than games.  Almost. ^_^

I’d have to say that this movie really defines me and who I’ve become.  I am a trained animator.  I am a pixel artist.  Video games have been the biggest part of my life since as long as I can remember to the point that I made them my career.  So it made me super happy to see pixels on the big screen.  If you love retro games or just games in general, I’m pretty sure you’ll have a great time.

Tink Folio Update

It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned the Tinkerbell folio I’ve been working on so I’ve decided to tease you all a bit.  This here is a small showing of what’s been done and what’s left to be done.  I’ve finished the line work for the first 10 images, but have yet to paint them.  I decided that it would be better to do all the clean lines first so I can get better at drawing her faster.  I have to say that it’s working fantastically!  I absolutely love the progress that’s being made and I’m super happy with the pictures.

The next segment will feature Tink and one of her fairy friends from the CG movies.  Once those are done I’ll get on painting them.  I can’t say when this will all be done.  I have a time in my head, but I don’t want to announce anything only to miss a deadline or rush the final product.  I can’t wait to see it when it’s done though, it should be awesome! ^_^

Congrats!  You’ve found the end of the commission contest, but did you get all the answers right? ^_^
