Wreck-It Ralph

So with E3 going on right now, there is probably no better time to release the new Disney movie trailer for Wreck-It Ralph.  In the film, Ralph is a video game bad guy.  Not a new game mind you.  He’s a classic 80’s arcade game baddie who’s not happy and wants to be a good guy.  I want to talk about it more, but I’ll just let you watch before I ruin anything.

E3 Announcements

E3 might not be over just yet, but most of the big things have been announced through the main three conferences from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.  Did you get what you’re wishing for?  I think most people where waiting to see what Nintendo is bringing to the table with the Wii U.  I have to say that I’m interested, but still need more info on date, price and games.

They announced New Super Mario Bros. U which is very cool and sure to be lots of fun, but my favorite game announcement was Pikmin 3.  I loved Pikmin 2 on GameCube so I’m super jazzed about this new one.  They showed lots of third party titles like Aliens, Batman Arkham City, Assassins Creed III, Mass Effect 3, Ninja Gaiden 3 and such.  You know, the games the other two are getting but the Wii misses out on, so it’s nice to see them get ported over.  What I am nervous about is that the Wii U gets some sort of watered down or “special” version of those titles so you still don’t feel like you’re getting what others are.  It’ll also come with NetFlix, Hulu, Amazon and YouTube and it’ll also have this new Miiverse that will serve as some sort of meeting place/social network for your Mii and the games you’ll play.

That is all very cool, but what impressed me the most was seeing two games that won’t be on any Nintendo system.  Watch Dogs and The Last of Us.

I’ve never played games like this before.  I’m not even sure you could call them games at this point, more like interactive movies with some decision making in between story points.  Anyway, they look fantastic and they really make me think that I should invest in a PS3.  Uncharted is another series that I would want to dive into.  Don’t get me wrong.  I still love my Nintendo and they games they provide, but this type of “game” is starting to speak to me more and more.

Nintendo is also doing a mini 3DS conference tomorrow.  I wonder what they’ll show there.

Code of Princess in North America

Woo Hoo!  It’s been announced that Code of Princess for 3DS is going to be localized for North America.  For those that aren’t aware of what Code of Princess is, it’s a beat’em up game like Guardian Heros.  Here’s a trailer.

Wii U Controller

In a prerecorded message, Nintendo showed off a secondary controller to it’s new Wii U, look familiar?  It’s interesting when you see Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft all follow each other in design and concepts.  People usually call foul and such, but I see it as the others acknowledging good ideas from the other.  I think that Nintendo is doing this so porting will be easier between the Wii U and the other consoles.  They must realize they’re missing out on some great titles by not having a proper controller.  Actually, now they have the new controller with the touch screen, this one and the standard Wii-mote for use on the Wii U.  I think they have all the bases covered now.

I want this figure

I don’t buy anime figures.  The only large figure I have is my Summer Time Peaches, but there are times where I’m seriously tempted.  I found this one as I surfed around a few weeks ago.  Does anyone recognize her?  She’s from that Senran Kagura 3DS game, the one with the big boobs.

Artist Showcase: Arsemaus

So the other day when I was checking out my fellow artists here at TJA, I found this one.  His name is Arsemuse and when I saw the art he has produced, I was instantly loved it. The things that struck me the most was the way he draws eyes, the line work of the piece and the fun poses he has.

All the characters are adorable and in such fantastic poses.  It’s not always easy to pose cartoony characters.  They usually have strange proportions like larger hips longer legs and such, but Arsemuse seems to do it with ease.  Something I see that I could learn from him.
