E3: day one
It’s all so perfect and so far the trip has been good. The flight went up and then down in the appropriate fashion. No worries, although I could smell someones booze on the plane and it made me feel nauseous for the rest of the day… and add on a headache and it made for a not so pleasant evening. But if that’s the worst of it then that’s not so bad.
I also successfully navigated the Metro system here in LA to the convention center to get my pass and travel to my hotel that was wwwwwaaaaaayyyyyyyyy the crap over in Santa Monica. But that’s okay too, because it’s right on the beach. ^_^ It’s quite breezy here and cool. Cooler then when I left Canada even. Which is also fine by me since that’s the way I like it.
One thing I like to do is try some fun new meals when I’m out. So far I’ve had a minestrone soup and a Cesar salad (for my upset belly last night) and a three egg breakfast with beacon and lemon sugar crepe at this place called Crepe Cafe. It was super tasty ^_^
Well, it’s time to head out to the show via shuttle bus. I’ll let you all in on the what and what later this evening.
- Took a snap of the plane I’m going to be on.
- YAY! I was hoping this was a ‘tv in the seat’ kind of plane. During the flight I watched Night at the Museum (meh), some Corner Gas, a little news and some Daily Planet.
- I always love seeing the tops of clouds.
- I looked out my window and I saw circle fields on the ground. Crazy!
- I thought this was awesome! The cracks and scars across the earth was something to see from such a height.
- I needed to by a Metro ticket and… hey! When did America get Loonies?!
- My handy, dandy printed map. I need to make it to the spot where the red line crosses blue line from the green line. I feel like I’m in Montreal again.
- Here’s my train.
- Local art can be found at this stop.
- Making the transfer to the blue line.
- I found the trains quite small compared to the ones in Montreal.
- I need to call home and say good night to the kids but… I think I’ll find a different phone. This one looks out of order.
- Not far from the Metro stop I found this. I think I made it to the right spot.
- Splinter Cell ad? Getting warmer…
- warmer…
- warmer…
- I think I’m in the right spot.
- Yup. No doubt now. ^_^
- More gigantic ads in side.
- My lunch… dinner? I’m not sure… damn jet lag…
- Just another shot from out side.
- I was waiting for a bus to take me to the hotel in Santa Monica and I saw that Eminem and Jay Z are going to be here tonight. Cool.
- Here’s the hotel interior.
- A lovely sitting area looking over the beach.
- I found this little guy on the floor when I was wandering around the hotel. I hope I can find it’s owner.
- I woke up at 4am (7am our time) damn jet lag… So I decided to wander around the hotel some more.
- There is a pier carnival close to the hotel. I think I’ll check it out later.
- So much wine.
- Some of the things you can buy in the gift shop.
- Even the bathrooms in the hotel are swank in this place.
- Another shot of the carnival/fair.
- Palms. I honestly think palms are the ugliest trees out there.
- Cool stylized Chinese lion statues in the hotel.
- More cool art.
- Rainbow Six? Just can’t escape video game titles…
- Front of the hotel.
- More inside the hotel.
- The lounge area, complete with fire place.
- This club has a doctor on staff to “prescribe” marijuana to the customers if you so want to have J. Nice ^_^
