Random Mysteries GB

Thought I’d show off a little something I’ve been working on.  So I made that Random pixel post a while back and it got me wanting to do more of it.  So I started working on something a little different.  See, I love GameBoy games.  If I could make one I would in a heart beat.  Having worked in mobile games all my life, I now love having graphical limits put on me.  I find that I am my most creative when I have only very little to work with.  I makes me think differently in order to create an awesome final result.

Anyway, I thought about how much fun it would be to have Random Squirrel have her own GameBoy Game.  I picture a isometric detective game where you have to gather clues and talk to people to gather info so solve a case.  What with her being a courtroom stenographer, I’m sure she’d loves get hands messy in some amateur detective work.  I’m sure she has her ways to get info from people (wink, wink).

I only did a few fake screen shots, but I think I’ll do up some more since they where so much fun to do.

The first furry smut I ever saw was…?

This is kick-assedness embodied. I want to contribute to this! If there is ANYTHING that I can do to further this project, please let me know.

Well, it’s not really a project. It’s just some fun mock screen shots I did up for fun. The interesting thing about something like this is that I’m fully capable to do the design, art and animation. The only things I can’t do is the programming and the sound/music. I don’t think there’s a market big enough for something like this anyway. I’m very happy you liked it though. ^_^

Yeah… Sorry ’bout that. Kinda embarrassing, but I noticed it wasn’t a real game project after I posted. Had a late night at a conference ‘reception’ and was slightly inebriated when I read the post. Was so amped at the possibility of a retro Random game, I didn’t read it carefully enough. Anyway, consider the offer standing, if this ever does evolve into something more. Heck, I’ll check commas, or lines of code for syntax to make this happen.

This is awesome, i do programming, too bad i dont have time for this right now, watching your screens makes me wanna write a flash game like this.

Don’t steal my idea! I’ll cut you! haha! Just kidding, I’m glad that people like these images. If I could make this game I would totally do it, but it would take me a million years to learn what I need to know to make it happen. Oh well, I’m happy enough to make fake screens.

    That’s amazing!
In a way, it kind of reminds me of ShadowRun on the SNES… except with a sexy squirrel.

    • Joe Randel Says:

I know everyone has talked about it and I even remember seeing it Nintendo Power when I was little, but I’ve never played the SNES Shadow Run. ~shame I’m glad you like my screen shots. ^_^

        You’ve got to try it!
It’s so different from any other game, but it’s very very good.
It does things that no other game does, such as the conversation system, and it explores some fascinating things like as how supernatural creatures and their sub-cultures dwell behind the scenes within a bladerunner-like future.
The story has a unique mixture of technology and shaman mysticism.
There aren’t many cyberpunk games to begin with, but this one has the depth and intrigue of a science fiction novel.
I guess it’s technically an RPG, but it doesn’t feel like one. It feels like a futuristic mystery set in a science fiction novel.

This is amazing! Here’s a thought: instead of an actual game, turn it into a comic of sorts. For added flair, you could do small animations for each panel.

I wish I could help you make this into an actual game, but since I lack the necessary skills I can only offer suggestions.

I would pay a kinky old-school adventure game with that cute character.

[…] be cool if it was though, eh?  Nope, just more fake screen shots of my fictitious GameBoy game Random Mysteries.  I generally think that I missed my calling in the industry.  I would have loved to make a […]

I really like your pixel art, like <>. How about you make agame like this, Mr.Jamel?

    • Joe Randel Says:

I would so love to make a game like this! I need to learn how to program first though. But, oh how I want to make this game. ^_^

      • Rasly Says:

It would be a better idea for you to look for an “rpg maker” (i dont realy know how its called) program that will allow you to create simply rpg games withut any programming knowledge.

        • Joe Randel Says:

I actually made a top down mini game with Gamemaker a few years ago. It was lots of fun. I should pick that up again and my a game with that.

          • Rasly Says:

cool, if you need any help, let me know, maybe i can be usefull. If you cant find any good game maker i cound try and do the programing for you in unity, that would be playable on mobile devices.

it would be cool to have an interesting adult/ecchi story based game with non linear gameplay

like your art there looks like some cool detective gameplay
