Favorites
What’s you favorite kind of ice cream? Mine is Chocolate Mint. Now, when you’re out and have have the opportunity to have ice cream, how often do you get your favorite kind? I rarely do. I usually get some other flavor. I’m always curious about other kinds. Maybe there is something better, or maybe I’m just curious about something I’ve never seen or tried before. Regardless, I rarely get what my favorite is, or what I know I like. This has actually extended to most of my meals when I’m out at a restaurant too. I’ll probably get something I’ve never had before. This started when I was on a cruse and I thought to myself “when will I ever be back here to try these things”? I decided then that I would try new things when I’m out rather then get the usual favorite.
Do you always get your favorite food or do you try new things?

My favorites are Butter Pecan and Cookies&Cream.
As for new things, it depends. I hear blowfish is good, but the risk is a bit much for me.

Hmm, I’m kinda the opposite. When I go to a restaurant I usually go through the menu and when I find something I like, I stick with it. I actually have 2 restaurants in town that ask me if I want ‘the usual’.
Not that I’m completely closed minded. If I’m out with some friends and they suggest something different, I will at least try it once. Who knows, it may be my next favorite thing!
Oh, and my favorite ice cream flavor is Cake Batter from Cold Stone Creamery.

mmmm I ADORE chocolate mint chip. I DO tend to try new things otherwise, I can buy a container of the stuff from the store afterall 😉

I do tend to try new things when I go out, and not just food. Life would get pretty boring if one did the same thing day in and day out, without deviation. I never understood people’s aversion to trying new foods. Is it a comfort issue? How do you ever learn if you like something, if you don’t try it? Try something radically different, and you may even learn something about yourself (beyond that you like/dislike that thing).
Having said that, there is one exception (at least with food) for me… Reubens. The first thing I check on a menu is the sandwich section to see whether they have a Reuben. If not, it’s on to a section from which I normally don’t order. If I have already tried a place’s Reuben, I’ll go for something else. But I am always on the lookout for a great Reuben.
As far as ice cream… probably a coffee flavor of some sort. My ice cream preference is far too mood sensitive to nail down a definitive fav.

well, im a picky eater, so i stick with what i know,except when it comes to desert. i’ll try any ice cream or cake or pie. yum. oh, as for fav. ice cream flavor, i’d have to say either the good old chocolate, or possibly blue raspberry.
